While A Plague Tale: Requiem often forces Amicia into brutal confrontations, there are situations where a non-lethal approach is not only possible but often preferable, especially in the early stages of the game or when dealing with specific enemy types. These methods allow for quieter progression and can conserve valuable resources.
Stealth Takedowns: The most common non-lethal option involves approaching an unsuspecting enemy from behind while in a stealth stance. When the prompt appears, you can perform a swift and silent takedown. This will incapacitate the enemy, allowing you to drag their body to a more discreet location, preventing other guards from discovering them and raising an alarm. This is crucial for maintaining a low profile and avoiding overwhelming odds.
Using the Environment: Certain environmental elements can be used to temporarily incapacitate enemies without direct confrontation. For example, if an enemy is standing near a precarious stack of crates or a hanging object, you can use your sling to knock it down, stunning or knocking them out. This requires careful aiming and timing but can be a lifesaver when direct stealth takedowns are not feasible.
The Sling and Alchemical Ammunition: While primarily a weapon, Amicia's sling can also be used for non-lethal purposes with specific ammunition types. For instance, a well-aimed shot with a simple rock can stun an enemy for a brief period, allowing you to either escape or follow up with a stealth takedown. Later in the game, you may acquire or craft items that can be used to create temporary diversions or incapacitate enemies without killing them, though these are less common than direct stealth takedowns.
When to Use Non-Lethal: Non-lethal takedowns are ideal when you need to clear a path without alerting others, when you are conserving resources, or when you wish to avoid unnecessary bloodshed. However, be aware that some enemies are more resilient to these methods, and prolonged engagement might be necessary.
