A Plague Tale: Requiem picks up months after the harrowing events of A Plague Tale: Innocence. Amicia and Hugo de Rune have found a fragile peace on the sun-drenched shores of the island of La Cuna, far from the ravaged lands of France. Hugo's mysterious Macula, the blood curse that afflicts him and draws the deadly rat plague, seems to be in remission, allowing him a semblance of a normal childhood. However, this tranquility is short-lived. The Macula begins to resurface, its symptoms growing more severe and uncontrollable. Driven by a desperate hope to find a cure and protect her younger brother, Amicia embarks on a perilous journey with Hugo, seeking the legendary island mentioned in ancient prophecies, an island rumored to hold the key to understanding and potentially eradicating the Macula.

Their quest will lead them through a world still reeling from the Black Death, where suspicion, fear, and desperation re supreme. Expect to traverse diverse and often treacherous environments, from bustling medieval cities and dark, foreboding forests to ancient ruins and the desolate, rat-infested landscapes that have become synonymous with the de Rune siblings' plight. The narrative delves deeper into the complex bond between Amicia and Hugo, exploring themes of sacrifice, faith, and the corrupting influence of power. As they face new enemies, both human and supernatural, Amicia must hone her skills as a protector and hunter, while Hugo grapples with the terrifying extent of his connection to the rats and the Macula. The stakes are higher than ever, as the fate of not only Hugo but potentially the entire world hangs in the balance.
