Chapter 2 Puzzle Solutions
Chapter 2, "Under the Skin," presents a few more intricate puzzles that build upon the mechanics introduced in the first chapter, often involving the manipulation of the environment and the use of Amicia's tools.
The Rat Swarm Obstruction Puzzle
Early in the chapter, you'll encounter a path blocked by a dense swarm of rats. To proceed, you need to find a way to disperse them.
- Identify the Rat Swarm: The path is impassable due to a large, moving mass of rats.
- Locate a Light Source: Look for a brazier or a torch that can be lit. There will usually be one within sight or a short distance from the swarm.
- Craft or Find a Fire Source: Ensure you have oil or a torch. If not, you may need to backtrack slightly to find crafting materials.
- ite the Light Source: Use your sling to ite the brazier or torch. The light will temporarily repel the rats, creating a small window of opportunity.
- Pass Through Quickly: As soon as the light source is active, quickly move Amicia and Hugo through the area before the rats regroup.
This puzzle highlights the importance of fire as a deterrent against the rat swarms and introduces the concept of timed environmental manipulation.
The Counterweight Puzzle
Later in the chapter, you'll encounter a mechanism involving a counterweight that needs to be activated to open a large door or bridge.
- Locate the Mechanism: You'll find a large lever or crank connected to a series of ropes and pulleys.
- Identify the Counterweight: Observe the mechanism to see where the counterweight is located. It might be a large stone block or a similar heavy object.
- Find a Way to Move the Counterweight: You may need to use your sling to shoot at a weak point, break a rope holding it, or push a nearby object to dislodge it.
- Activate the Lever/Crank: Once the counterweight is in position or has fallen, interact with the main lever or crank. This should now operate correctly, opening the path.
Pay close attention to the visual cues of the machinery. The game often provides subtle hints about which parts are interactive or can be manipulated. If a lever isn't working, it's likely because the counterweight isn't correctly positioned or hasn't been dislodged.
