Initial Setup: You start with a small base and a few units. Immediately begin training Villagers from your Town Center. Prioritize food and wood collection.
Resource Gathering: Send Villagers to the nearby gold mine and berry bushes. Wood is crucial for building defenses and additional structures.
Early Defense: Expect early raids from Circle of Ossus units. Use your starting military to defend your Town Center and resource gatherers. Build a Barracks early to train Musketeers for ranged defense.
Scouting: Send a scout to explore the immediate area. You'll discover additional resource patches and potential enemy patrol routes.
Objective: Your main objective is to survive the initial onslaught and reach a certain population cap or gather a specific amount of resources. The game will guide you to your next steps once this is achieved.

Mission 2: The Serpent's Tongue

This mission introduces more complex objectives, often involving navigating treacherous terrain and dealing with fortified enemy positions. Expect to use your hero units more effectively here.

Hero Focus: Amanda Kincaid and Nathaniel Black are vital. Use Amanda's abilities to heal units and Nathaniel's ranged attacks to pick off key targets.
Navigating the Map: The map often features choke points and winding paths. Use your units to clear these areas carefully. Artillery, once available, will be invaluable for breaking through enemy defenses.
Destroying Enemy Outposts: You'll likely be tasked with destroying several Circle of Ossus outposts. Approach these with a balanced force of infantry, cavalry, and artillery.
Resource Management: Keep a steady flow of resources coming in. You'll need to continuously reinforce your army as you push deeper into enemy territory. Consider building a second Town Center if the map allows for it.
Specific Objective Example: One common objective in this type of mission is to destroy a specific "Circle of Ossus Stronghold" or "Sacred Site." These are usually heavily guarded and require a concentrated attack.

The intensity ramps up in "The Shadow," often featuring larger-scale battles and the introduction of powerful enemy units. Prepare for a more challenging engagement.

Massing Your Army: This is where you'll need a substantial army. Focus on a balanced composition: Musketeers for anti-infantry, Hussars for anti-artillery and raiding, and Falconets for siege.
Countering Enemy Units: The Circle of Ossus will deploy powerful units like Spahi and Janissaries. Ensure you have appropriate counter-units. Musketeers are excellent against Spahi, and Hussars can quickly close the distance on Janissaries.
Defensive Lines: As you advance, consider establishing forward defensive positions with Outposts or Blockhouses to protect your supply lines and provide rally points.
The "Shadow" Objective: Often, this mission involves confronting a particularly strong Circle of Ossus leader or a heavily fortified central base. You might need to disable specific structures like "Circle of Ossus War Academies" to weaken their production.
Exploiting Weaknesses: Look for opportunities to flank enemy positions or exploit gaps in their defenses. Sometimes, a well-placed cavalry charge can turn the tide of battle.

Mission 7: The Last Stand

After several challenging missions, "The Last Stand" often represents a critical turning point, requiring you to defend a key location against overwhelming odds. Resourcefulness and strong defensive planning are paramount.

Fortify Your Position: You'll typically be defending a central base or a specific structure. Immediately begin building walls, Outposts, and Blockhouses around your perimeter. Upgrade these defenses as much as possible.
Strategic Unit Placement: Position your ranged units (Musketeers, Crossbowmen) behind walls or in Blockhouses. Keep melee units (Pikemen, Hussars) ready to intercept enemy breakthroughs.
Artillery Defense: Falconets and Cannons are crucial for breaking up enemy formations before they reach your walls. Protect them with melee units.
Hero Abilities: use Amanda's healing and Nathaniel's powerful attacks to keep your key units alive and deal significant damage to enemy heroes or powerful units.
Wave Management: The enemy will attack in waves. Prioritize targets: destroy enemy artillery first, then powerful melee units, and finally the general infantry.

The grand finale! This mission often involves a final assault on the Circle of Ossus's main stronghold, culminating in a decisive battle. Bring everything you've learned to bear.

Massive Army Composition: This is the time to build your ultimate army. A diverse force with plenty of artillery, strong infantry, and fast cavalry is essential. Consider training unique units if available.
Destroying the Main Base: Your primary objective will be to destroy the Circle of Ossus's final base. This will be heavily defended with multiple layers of walls, towers, and powerful units.
Siege Warfare: Artillery is your best friend here. Use Falconets and Heavy Cannons to systematically dismantle enemy defenses. Protect them at all costs.
Heroic Charge: Lead the charge with your heroes. Amanda and Nathaniel can turn the tide of battle with their special abilities.
Dealing with the Leader: Expect to face a powerful Circle of Ossus leader or a unique boss unit. Focus fire with your strongest units and use hero abilities to take them down quickly.
