Cavalry Units

Age of Empires III Cavalry Units guide details Hussars, Dragoons, and heavy cavalry like the Cuirassier for flanking, raiding, and shock combat.

·Multi-source verified (104/104)

Cavalry units provide speed, mobility, and powerful charges, making them excellent for flanking, raiding, and engaging ranged units. Hussars are light cavalry, fast and good against ranged infantry and artillery. Dragoons are ranged cavalry, effective against other cavalry and light infantry. Heavy cavalry like the French Cuirassier or Spanish Lancer are powerful shock units, devastating against infantry but vulnerable to anti-cavalry units like Pikemen. Use cavalry to quickly close distances, disrupt enemy formations, and eliminate vulnerable units like Skirmishers or Cannons. Always be aware of anti-cavalry units and try to avoid direct engagements with them. Cavalry raids on enemy villagers can cripple their economy.
