Infantry units form the backbone of most armies in Age of Empires III. They are generally categorized into ranged and melee types. Musketeers are versatile ranged infantry, good against cavalry and other infantry. Skirmishers are specialized ranged units, excellent against other ranged infantry but vulnerable to cavalry. Pikemen are melee infantry, highly effective against cavalry but weak against ranged units. Unique infantry units like the British Redcoat, French Gendarme, or Ottoman Janissary offer specialized roles and enhanced stats. Always aim for a balanced infantry force, using Pikemen to protect your ranged units from cavalry, and Musketeers/Skirmishers to deal damage to enemy infantry and ranged units. Upgrading their attack and health is crucial.
