Understanding the diverse unit rosters across all civilizations is paramount to mastering Age of Mythology. Each civilization boasts unique strengths and weaknesses, reflected in their human, mythological, and siege units. General Unit Types & Counters

While each civilization has its unique flair, most units fall into general categories with established counter-relationships. Mastering these fundamentals is crucial:

  • Infantry: Generally strong against Cavalry, weak against Archers.
  • Archers: Strong against Infantry, weak against Cavalry.
  • Cavalry: Strong against Archers, weak against Infantry.
  • Siege Units: Essential for destroying buildings, weak against most combat units, especially Cavalry.
  • Myth Units: Highly specialized units with unique abilities and often strong bonuses against specific unit types or buildings. They are typically countered by Heroes.
  • Heroes: Crucial for countering Myth Units and relics. They also possess a bonus against Myth Units.

Greek Units

The Greeks excel with powerful, well-rounded human units and potent Myth Units. Their Heroes are particularly strong.

  • Human Units:
    • Hoplite: The backbone of Greek infantry, strong against cavalry. Train from the Barracks.
    • Peltast: Greek archers, effective against infantry. Train from the Archery Range.
