Upon starting, immediately focus on building a robust economy. Train gatherers continuously from your Town Center until you have at least 25-30. Assign them efficiently to Food, Wood, and Gold. While building your economy, construct a few defensive towers or walls around your base perimeter to deter early enemy raids. Keep Arkantos and your starting units on patrol near your resource gatherers for protection.
Civilization-Specific Economic Management
Your resource management strategy depends heavily on your chosen civilization:
- Greeks, Egyptians, and Norse: Build multiple drop-off points (Storehouses, Lumber Camps, or Mining Camps) near resource patches to minimize walking time. Research economic upgrades like 'Hand Axe', 'Pickaxe', and 'Hunting Dogs' at these locations.
- Atlanteans: Do not build drop-off points. Citizens gather resources directly into your global stockpile but are more expensive and take up more population. Research economic upgrades directly at the Economic Guild.
Advancing Through the Ages
Aim to reach the Classical Age within 8-10 minutes. When advancing, choose Minor Gods that complement your strategy:
- Egyptian Advice: Consider Ptah for early raiding with Wadjets and Shifting Sands, or Hathor in the Heroic Age for the powerful Roc transport and Locust Swarm to disrupt enemy farming.
- Atlantean Advice: Select Hyperion for the Chaos power and Stymphalian Birds, or Hecate in the Mythic Age to unleash the devastating Tartarian Gate and Lampades myth units.
