Utility Items & Consumables

Managing your inventory effectively is crucial in Alan Wake 2, especially with limited space. Consumable items are vital for survival, with specific types better suited for different situations. Prioritize using consumables to free up inventory slots and avoid hoarding.

  • Healing Items:
    1. Painkillers: Best for use during combat due to their quick application.
    2. Trauma Pads: Can be used in fights if you have brief pauses or can retreat to a safe spot.
    3. First Aid Kits: Provide full health recovery but take too long to use in combat. These are best used in Break Rooms and stored in shoeboxes to save inventory space as they occupy two slots.
  • Flares: Always carry at least one flare for emergencies.
  • Crossbow Bolts: These are the worst offenders for inventory consumption, stacking only 4 per slot. Either use the crossbow regularly or leave bolts where you find them to manage space.
  • Resource Management: Save resources for boss encounters. Loot in stashes is fixed, but items in supply containers are semi-randomized; you often find what you currently need, like batteries when low. If well-stocked, you might find nothing, so consider leaving containers for later.
