Upon arriving in Bright Falls, Alan goes to retrieve the cabin key from Carl Stucky. He encounters a mysterious old woman who informs him of Stucky's illness and provides directions to a cabin on an island in Cauldron Lake. At the cabin, Alice prepares a surprise for Alan, leading him to a study with a typewriter and paper.

Alice attempts to discuss a psychiatrist she has been seeing, but Alan storms out. The patients in the clinic exhibit signs of emotional disturbance due to contact with the Dark Presence. Among them are Tor and Odin Anderson, former members of the band The Old Gods of Asgard, who direct Alan to a message at their family farm.
