The final confrontation against the Dark Presence is a multi-stage battle that tests all of Alan's learned skills. It's less a single entity and more a series of overwhelming environmental and enemy challenges.
Phase 1: The Cauldron Lake Shore
You'll be on the shore of Cauldron Lake, facing waves of Taken and possessed objects. Utilize the numerous floodlights and generators scattered around. Keep moving, prioritize burning away darkness, and use your most powerful weapons (Flare Gun, Flashbangs) for crowd control. Conserve some ammunition for the later stages.
Phase 2: The Lighthouse Ascent
As you ascend towards the lighthouse, the Dark Presence will throw more intense waves of Taken at you, including heavily armored variants. Environmental hazards like falling debris will also be present. Use the light sources along the path to your advantage. Don't linger; push forward when you have a clear path. The lighthouse itself will provide a temporary safe haven and a crucial light source.
Phase 3: The Lighthouse Beam
At the top of the lighthouse, you'll need to activate the main beam. This involves a final, desperate stand against an endless wave of Taken. The lighthouse beam will slowly charge. Your objective is to survive until it's fully charged. Use all remaining flares, flashbangs, and powerful weapons. Keep the beam focused on the largest groups of Taken. Once charged, the beam will unleash a powerful burst of light, banishing the Dark Presence and concluding the game.
