Advanced Combat Strategies
  • The 'Flash-Dodge-Shoot' Combo: Focus your flashlight on a Taken until its darkness is almost gone, then dodge an incoming attack, and immediately follow up with a quick shot to finish it. This conserves battery and ammo.
  • Environmental Exploitation: Always look for explosive barrels, floodlights, or car headlights. Luring Taken into these areas can clear entire groups or provide crucial breathing room.
  • Prioritize Threats: Deal with ranged Taken (those throwing axes or knives) first, as they can chip away at your health from a distance. Then focus on the faster, more aggressive melee Taken.
  • Flare Placement: Don't just throw flares randomly. Place them strategically to create a temporary safe zone for reloading, healing, or funneling enemies into a chokepoint.
  • Weapon Switching: Quickly switch between your flashlight and a firearm. For example, use the flashlight to burn away darkness, then immediately switch to a shotgun for a powerful finishing blow.
  • Running is an Option: Sometimes, the best strategy is to simply run past enemies to the next safe zone, especially if you're low on resources. Not every Taken needs to be fought.

Practice these techniques to become a more efficient and deadly force against the Dark Presence.
