The final desperate push to save your children, Edwin and Enoch, from the Machine's clutches. This section details the steps required to navigate the terrifying final areas of the facility and confront the source of your nightmares.

The Boiler Room Descent

You'll find yourself in the Boiler Room, a cacophony of groaning metal and steam. Your primary objective here is to activate the lift that will take you deeper into the Machine's core.

1. Locate the Boiler Controls: From your starting position, head towards the large, central boiler. To the right, you'll see a small control panel with several levers.
2. Engage the Pressure Valves: There are three pressure valves that need to be activated to power the lift.
   • Valve 1: This valve is directly next to the control panel. Interact with it to turn it.
   • Valve 2: Follow the pipes leading from the central boiler to the far wall. You'll find the second valve here, often partially obscured by steam.
   • Valve 3: The third valve is located on a raised platform accessible via a short set of stairs near the back of the room. Be cautious of steam vents as you approach.
3. Activate the Lift Mechanism: Once all three valves are engaged, return to the control panel. You'll now be able to interact with the main lever to activate the lift. Prepare for a jarring descent.

The Lower Reaches and the Pig-Men

After the lift ride, you'll emerge into a dark, industrial corridor. This area is heavily patrolled by the terrifying Pig-Men. Stealth is paramount here.

1. Navigate the Initial Corridor: Proceed slowly. You'll hear the distinctive grunts and snorts of a Pig-Man ahead. There are several crates and machinery you can use for cover.
2. Bypass the First Pig-Man: Wait for the Pig-Man to patrol away from your path. When its back is turned, quickly move to the next section of cover. Do not run, as this will alert it.
3. Locate the Maintenance Hatch: Continue through the corridor, keeping to the shadows. You'll eventually reach a dead-end with a small, circular maintenance hatch on the floor. This is your exit.
4. Open the Hatch: Interact with the hatch to open it. It may require a few attempts to fully open. Once open, drop down into the passage below.

The Machine's Heart

You are now in the very core of the Machine, a grotesque fusion of flesh and steel. This is where you will confront Mandus's darkest creation.

1. Follow the Blood Trail: The path forward is marked by a disturbing trail of blood and discarded machinery. Follow it without deviation.
2. The Central Chamber: You will arrive in a vast, circular chamber dominated by the pulsating heart of the Machine. Your children are here, trapped within its mechanisms.
3. The Final Confrontation: Approach the central mechanism. A cutscene will trigger, revealing the full horror of Mandus's actions and the Machine's true purpose. There is no direct combat here; your actions are purely interactive.
4. The Choice: You will be presented with a critical choice that determines the ending of the game. Interact with the designated levers or mechanisms as they become available. The specific interactions will depend on the ending you wish to achieve. Pay close attention to the visual and auditory cues.

Remember, your sanity is constantly at risk in these final moments. Avoid looking directly at the more grotesque elements for extended periods, and utilize your lantern sparingly to conserve oil. Good luck, Mandus.
