This involves a multi-step puzzle requiring you to activate several mechanisms. First, locate the main power generator. It will likely be in a central or prominent position within the boiler room, often surrounded by pipes and gauges. Interact with the main lever or switch to attempt to activate it. You'll quickly realize it's not that simple.
You'll then need to find and activate several smaller valves or levers scattered throughout the boiler room. These are often hidden behind machinery or in dimly lit corners. Listen for the distinct sounds of steam or machinery to guide you. For example, you might need to turn a large wheel valve to open a steam pipe, or pull a lever to engage a gear. There are usually 2-3 such mechanisms. Once all necessary components are activated, return to the main power generator and activate it again. The elevator should now be powered, and a new path will open up. Be mindful of the environment; the boiler room can be disorienting with its many pipes and dark corners. Use your lantern sparingly to conserve oil, but don't hesitate to use it when you're truly lost or need to examine a crucial detail.
