The Laboratory

Welcome to the Laboratory, a crucial area for progressing through the castle. This section details how to navigate the area, acquire necessary items, and avoid potential dangers. Keep your wits about you, as sanity management is key here.

Initial Entry and Exploration

Upon entering the Laboratory, immediately look to your left. You'll find a small table with a Laudanum bottle. Grab it; sanity restoratives are always valuable.
Proceed further into the main lab area. On a central table, you'll spot a Tinderbox and a note. Read the note for some lore and potential clues.
To the right of the central table, there's a cabinet. Open it to find another Tinderbox.
Explore the perimeter of the room. You'll notice various scientific instruments and shelves. One shelf, specifically, holds a Tinderbox and a Laudanum bottle.

The Chemical Puzzle

The primary objective in the Laboratory is to create the necessary chemical compound. This involves mixing specific ingredients in the correct order.

Locate the large chemical apparatus in the center of the room. This is where you'll perform the mixing.
First Ingredient: Look for a small, clear bottle labeled "Acid" on a nearby workbench. Pick it up and pour it into the apparatus.
Second Ingredient: Next, find the "Alkali" powder. It's usually in a small, white container on a shelf near the back wall. Add this to the mixture.
Third Ingredient: The final ingredient is the "Catalyst." This is often found in a small, dark vial on a different workbench, sometimes slightly obscured by other equipment. Carefully add it to the apparatus.

Strategy Tip: If you're struggling to find an ingredient, remember to thoroughly check all tabletops, shelves, and even under benches. The Laboratory can be quite cluttered, and items can blend into the environment.

After the Mixture

Once all three ingredients are combined, a reaction will occur. Observe the apparatus.
A new item, the Chemical Compound, will be produced. This is your key to unlocking the next area. Pick it up immediately.
Before leaving, double-check the entire room for any missed Tinderboxes or Laudanum. The Laboratory is a good source for these essential resources.

Exiting the Laboratory

With the Chemical Compound in hand, you can now proceed. The exit from the Laboratory typically leads towards the Wine Cellar or a connecting corridor. Be prepared for potential encounters in the subsequent areas.
