The Nave
Welcome to The Nave, a large, imposing chamber that serves as a central hub in this section of the castle. This area can be particularly challenging due to its open layout and the potential for encounters. Prudence and careful resource management are key here.
Initial Exploration and Item Acquisition
Upon entering The Nave:
- Immediately turn left and proceed cautiously along the wall.
- You will find a Wooden Box. Break it open to acquire 2 Tinderboxes. These are crucial for maintaining light and sanity.
- Continue along the left wall. You'll soon come across a Small Table. On it, you'll discover a valuable Laudanum bottle, essential for restoring your health.
- Near the table, look for a Chest. Inside, you'll find another Tinderbox.
- Proceed to the far end of this side of the Nave. You'll locate a Cabinet containing 2 Tinderboxes.
Navigating the Central Area and Avoiding Threats
The central area of The Nave is where you're most vulnerable. A creature may patrol this space, so stealth is paramount.
- Strategy: Stick to the shadows as much as possible. Avoid running unless absolutely necessary, as it generates noise.
- Central Altar: In the very center of The Nave is a large altar. Approach it carefully. On top, you will find a Tinderbox and a Note. Read the note for lore and potential clues.
- Right Side Exploration: After securing items from the left and central areas, move to the right side of The Nave.
- Along the right wall, you'll find another Wooden Box. Break it for 2 Tinderboxes.
- Further down the right wall, there's a Cabinet. Open it to retrieve a final Tinderbox for this area.
Exiting The Nave
Once you've thoroughly explored The Nave and collected all available items, your objective is to locate the exit. The exit from The Nave leads to the Chancel.
- The exit is located at the far end of The Nave, opposite your entry point.
- It's a large, archway-like opening. Approach it cautiously, ensuring no creatures are in your immediate vicinity.
- Proceed through the archway to continue your journey.
Important Note on Sanity: The Nave is a large, dark space. Prolonged exposure to darkness will severely impact Daniel's sanity. Use your tinderboxes wisely to light torches and candles where available, especially if you find yourself lingering. If you hear growls or footsteps, immediately seek cover in a dark corner or behind an obstacle and remain still until the threat passes.
