Comms Sabotage: Silencing the Crew's Intel
The Comms sabotage in Among Us is a powerful tool for Impostors, desed to cripple the crew's ability to gather information and track progress. By disabling critical systems, you can create confusion and open up opportunities for kills.
When Comms are sabotaged, several key functions for crewmates are disabled. This includes the task list, the task bar, security cameras, and sometimes even vitals or door logs, depending on the map. The goal is to blind the crew, making them less aware of their objectives and more vulnerable to Impostor tactics.
Understanding the Comms Sabotage:
The Comms sabotage typically requires crewmates to go to the Communications room and interact with a console to fix it. This forces them to converge in a specific area, which can be a double-edged sword for the Impostor. The duration of the sabotage is sificant enough to cause considerable disruption.
Strategic Uses for Impostors:
- Blind the Crew: The most direct effect is removing the task list and task bar. Crewmates can no longer see what tasks they need to do or how close the crew is to winning. This creates a sense of aimlessness and can lead to panic.
- Disable Security Systems: On maps like The Skeld and Polus, Comms sabotage often disables security cameras and other monitoring systems. This creates blind spots where Impostors can operate more freely.
- Create Kill Opportunities: By forcing crewmates to the Communications room to fix the sabotage, Impostors can set up ambushes in the room itself or in the surrounding corridors. Alternatively, while crewmates are distracted by the need to fix Comms, an Impostor can make a kill elsewhere on the map.
- Prevent Information Sharing: Without the task bar, crewmates can't easily track task progress, making it harder to gauge how close the Impostors are to losing.
- Facilitate Venting: If Comms sabotage also disables door logs or other tracking systems, it can provide a window for Impostors to use vents without being immediately detected.
Locations and Interactions:
On The Skeld, the Communications room is located in the upper-left quadrant, near the Cafeteria. The fix involves interacting with a console. On Polus, the Comms room is in the upper-right section, near the Laboratory. The sabotage is initiated from the Impostor's sabotage menu. Once activated, the timer begins, and the crewmates will see a notification that Comms need to be fixed.
Counter-Strategies for Crewmates:
When Comms are sabotaged:
- Prioritize the Fix: The Comms sabotage is critical. Crewmates should make it a priority to fix it as soon as possible.
- Go in Pairs: Always go to fix Comms with at least one other crewmate to ensure safety and provide an alibi.
- Be Extra Vigilant: With cameras and task bars down, Impostors have more freedom. Be extra aware of your surroundings and who is nearby.
- Report Suspicious Behavior: If you see someone acting strangely or not heading to fix Comms, report it.
The Comms sabotage is a potent weapon in the Impostor's arsenal. By understanding its effects and strategic applications, Impostors can effectively blind and disorient the crew, creating the perfect environment for a successful kill.
