Sabotage Guide: Gap Room
The Gap Room sabotage, often found on maps like Polus, is a unique and disruptive Impostor ability. It's desed to create confusion and isolate crewmates by temporarily disabling a vital pathway. Mastering its use can lead to excellent kill opportunities and strategic control.
The Gap Room, typically a bridge or walkway connecting two sections of the map, becomes impassable when sabotaged. This means crewmates cannot traverse it, forcing them to find alternative routes or wait for the sabotage to end. This can be particularly effective in maps where the Gap Room is a primary thoroughfare, or if you want to split up a group of crewmates who are moving together. The goal is to create a bottleneck, isolate individuals, or prevent crewmates from reaching critical tasks or sabotages.
Strategic Uses of the Gap Room Sabotage:
- Isolating Targets: If you see a crewmate on one side of the Gap Room and you are on the other, sabotaging it can trap them, allowing you to potentially kill them without immediate witnesses or escape routes.
- Splitting Up Groups: If a group of crewmates is moving together across the Gap Room, sabotaging it will force them to separate, creating individual vulnerabilities.
- Preventing Access to Critical Areas: If a critical sabotage (like O2 or Reactor) occurs on the other side of the Gap Room, sabotaging it can delay crewmates from reaching it, potentially leading to a loss for the crew.
- Creating Kill Zones: By blocking off one side, you can create a kill zone on the other side, knowing that crewmates will be forced to come to you if they want to proceed.
- Diversionary Tactic: Sabotaging the Gap Room can draw attention away from another part of the map where you might be planning a kill or a vent escape.
How to Execute the Gap Room Sabotage:
- Access the Sabotage Map: Open your sabotage interface.
- Locate the Gap Room Icon: The Gap Room will have a distinct icon, often representing a bridge or a connecting pathway.
- Activate the Sabotage: Press the sabotage button.
Countering the Gap Room Sabotage (as Crewmate):
- Be Aware of Alternative Routes: Know the map well enough to find alternative paths when the Gap Room is blocked.
- Don't Get Trapped: If you are on one side and the Gap Room is sabotaged, be cautious. An Impostor might be waiting to pick you off if you try to find another way.
- Communicate Blockages: Inform other crewmates if the Gap Room is blocked, so they don't waste time trying to cross.
- Observe Suspicious Behavior: If you see someone near the Gap Room just before it's sabotaged, they might be the Impostor.
The Gap Room sabotage is a powerful tool for controlling movement and creating advantageous situations. Use it wisely to outmaneuver your opponents.
