Mastering Security Sabotage in Among Us
Security sabotage is a powerful tool for Impostors, allowing for strategic isolation and confusion. By disabling the cameras, you can create blind spots, making it easier to secure kills without immediate detection. Understanding when and how to use this sabotage is crucial for maintaining control and sowing discord among the crewmates.
The Security room on maps like The Skeld and Polus offers a unique sabotage opportunity. When activated, it temporarily disables the security cameras located throughout the map. This means crewmates relying on camera feeds to track movements and identify suspicious activity will be left in the dark. The duration of this sabotage is sificant enough to allow for multiple kills or to facilitate a vent escape without being seen.
Strategic Use of Security Sabotage:
- Creating Kill Opportunities: The most obvious use is to disable cameras before making a kill in a location that might otherwise be monitored. This is particularly effective if you know a crewmate is heading towards the Security room or if you anticipate someone checking the cameras.
- Disrupting Information Flow: Crewmates often use cameras to confirm alibis or to spot suspicious behavior. Disabling them prevents this, forcing them to rely on verbal communication, which can be manipulated.
- Facilitating Venting: If you've just vented or are planning to vent, disabling cameras can give you a crucial window to move unseen between rooms.
- Timing is Key: Don't just sabotage randomly. Observe crewmate movements. If you see a group of crewmates splitting up and heading towards different areas, a camera sabotage can isolate them and make them vulnerable.
Locations and Interactions:
On The Skeld, the Security room is located in the upper-left quadrant, adjacent to the Cafeteria. On Polus, it's in the upper-right section, near the Laboratory. The sabotage itself is initiated from the Impostor's sabotage menu, targeting the 'Security' function. Once activated, a timer begins, and the camera feeds will go black for all crewmates. The Security sabotage typically lasts for a set amount of time, after which the cameras will automatically reactivate.
Counter-Strategies for Crewmates:
Crewmates should be aware that a Security sabotage is a prime opportunity for Impostors. If cameras go dark, assume an Impostor is nearby or has just made a move. It's advisable to stick together in pairs or small groups during this time and to avoid isolated areas. If you are in Security when the sabotage is initiated, be cautious, as you might be the target.
Mastering the Security sabotage requires a keen understanding of map layout, crewmate habits, and the timing of your actions. It's a tool that, when used effectively, can sificantly swing the game in the Impostor's favor.
