Adapting to Game Settings

Learn how to adapt your Among Us strategy and 'build' based on various game settings like Impostor count, kill cooldown, and visual tasks.

Your 'build' or strategy must adapt to the specific game settings chosen by the host. These settings drastically alter gameplay.

  • Number of Impostors: More Impostors means more kills, faster games, and more chaos. Fewer Impostors means Crewmates have more time to task and observe.
  • Kill Cooldown: A short cooldown favors Impostors, allowing for rapid kills. A long cooldown forces Impostors to be more patient and strategic.
  • Crewmate Speed: Faster speed means quicker tasking and easier escapes for Impostors. Slower speed makes movement more deliberate.
  • Visual Tasks: If enabled, Crewmates can prove innocence. If disabled, Impostors can fake any task.
  • Task Bar Updates: 'Always' helps Crewmates track progress. 'Meetings' or 'Never' makes it harder to know how close Crewmates are to a task win.
  • Emergency Meetings: Limited meetings per player forces Crewmates to be more judicious with the button.

Before each game, quickly check the settings to adjust your strategy accordingly. A 'build' that works for one set of settings might fail miserably in another.
