Surviving Impostor Attacks
As a Crewmate, your primary goal is survival while completing tasks. Impostors are constantly looking for opportunities to eliminate you. Understanding their tactics and knowing how to react can be the difference between life and death. Staying aware of your surroundings, sticking with trusted allies, and using the environment are key to evading the Impostor's deadly reach.
Impostors thrive on isolation and surprise. The moment you find yourself alone in a less-trafficked area, especially near vents or in dark corners, your risk level sificantly increases. Recognizing these danger zones and employing defensive strategies can help you make it to the next meeting.
Key Survival Tactics
- Stay in Groups: Traveling in groups of three or more makes it harder for an Impostor to get a clean kill without witnesses. However, be wary of large groups where an Impostor might be hiding in plain sight.
- Be Aware of Your Surroundings: Constantly check your mini-map and listen for sounds. If you see someone acting suspiciously, like lingering near vents or running away from a body, take note.
- use Security Features: Cameras, Admin Map, and Vitals can provide crucial information about player locations and potential kills. Learn to use these tools to your advantage.
- Know Common Kill Spots: Certain areas are more prone to Impostor activity due to their layout, proximity to vents, or lack of frequent Crewmate traffic. Examples include Electrical, Navigation's lower section, and the far corners of Storage.
- React to Sabotages: Impostors often use sabotages to split up the Crewmates or create kill opportunities. Responding to critical sabotages like O2 and Reactor is vital, but be cautious when heading to fix them.
- Trust, But Verify: While sticking together is good, don't blindly trust everyone. Observe their behavior and task completion. If someone is faking tasks or acting erratically, they might be the Impostor.
Specific Scenarios and Responses
When an Impostor attacks, your immediate reaction is crucial. If you witness a kill, try to get a good look at the Impostor and report it immediately. If you are attacked and survive, try to escape to a populated area or a security station. If you are alone and hear footsteps or see someone emerge from a vent, run and try to find other Crewmates.
Remember, the Impostor wants you to panic. Staying calm and making rational decisions will sificantly increase your chances of survival.
