Admin Map Utilization

The Admin Map is a powerful tool for Crewmates, offering a real-time overview of player locations across the entire ship or base. By understanding how to interpret the data presented on the Admin Map, Crewmates can gain crucial insights into player movements, identify suspicious activity, and even pinpoint the location of a recent kill.

Located in the Admin room, this map displays icons representing each player currently alive. The icons move in real-time, showing their general location on the map. While it doesn't reveal specific tasks or who is who, it's an invaluable resource for tracking the flow of players and detecting anomalies that might indicate an Impostor's presence.

Understanding the Admin Map Interface

The Admin Map displays:

  • Player Icons: Each alive player is represented by a colored icon matching their character's color.
  • Room Indicators: The map is divided into various rooms, and the icons show which room each player is currently in.
  • Movement: Player icons move across the map as players navigate.
  • No Identity: The map does not tell you the name or role of You represented by an icon.

Crewmate Strategies for Admin Map Use

  • Track Player Density: If you see a large cluster of players in one area, it's generally safer. Conversely, areas with only one or two players might be more dangerous.
  • Spotting Venting: An Impostor venting will disappear from one location and reappear in another almost instantly. If you see an icon vanish and then reappear in a distant room without traversing the connecting hallways, it's a strong indicator of venting.
  • Locating Bodies: If a kill occurs, the Admin Map can help you pinpoint the general area where it happened. If an icon suddenly disappears and you know there was no vent nearby, a kill likely occurred. You can then investigate that area.
  • Identifying Suspicious Movement: Observe players who are lingering in hallways, moving back and forth without apparent purpose, or heading towards isolated areas.
  • Confirming Alibis: If someone claims they were in a certain area, you can check the Admin Map to see if their icon was indeed there.
  • The "One Person" Rule: If you see only one player icon in a room, and you know another player was just there, that single icon might be the Impostor who just killed.

Impostor Counter-Strategies

Impostors must be aware of the Admin Map:

  • Avoid Venting When Watched: If you suspect someone is in Admin, avoid using vents.
  • Kill in High-Traffic Areas (Carefully): Sometimes, killing in a room with multiple people can cause confusion, making it harder to pinpoint the killer on the Admin Map. However, this is risky.
  • Use Sabotages to Distract: Sabotages can draw players away from Admin, giving you a window to move or kill.
  • Don't Linger: Move with purpose. Lingering in hallways can draw suspicion on the Admin Map.

Tips for Effective Admin Map Monitoring

  • Don't Rely Solely on Admin: The Admin Map provides location data, not identity. Always cross-reference with other information and observations.
  • Be Quick: The Admin Map is dynamic. Check it frequently, but don't spend too long in Admin, as you might miss other events or become a target yourself.
  • Communicate Findings: If you see something suspicious on the Admin Map, report it immediately during a meeting.

By mastering the Admin Map, Crewmates can transform from passive task-doers into active investigators, sificantly increasing their chances of survival and victory.
