2.3. Efficient Task Routes
Maximizing your efficiency as a Crewmate is paramount to victory. Planning and executing efficient task routes allows you to complete your objectives faster, reducing the time Impostors have to strike. This section details strategies for optimizing your movement and task completion order.
Speed up your Crewmate victory by mastering efficient task routes. Learn how to plan your path, group tasks logically, and avoid unnecessary backtracking to complete your objectives before the Impostors can win.
The Importance of Planning
Before even moving, take a moment to look at your task list and map. Identify tasks that are:
- Close together: Grouping these tasks minimizes travel time.
- In sequence: Some tasks require you to visit multiple locations in a specific order (e.g., diverting power then fixing it).
- Visual tasks: If you have a visual task, consider doing it early when you can be seen by others to prove your innocence.
Map-Specific Route Optimization
Each map has unique layouts that lend themselves to different route strategies. Here are some general principles:
- The Skeld: Often, starting in the Cafeteria and working your way through Weapons, Navigation, Shields, and then Electrical/Storage is efficient. Be wary of Electrical, as it's a common Impostor hunting ground.
- Mira HQ: This map is more linear. Routes often involve moving between the Cafeteria, Admin, and Hallway, then branching out to Reactor, Communications, or MedBay.
- Polus: With its larger size and interconnected rooms, planning is crucial. Consider routes that move between the Office, Specimen, and Laboratory, or the Hub, Greenhouse, and Communications. The long corridors can be dangerous.
- The Airship: This map is vast and has multiple levels. Efficient routes often involve using the central hub and then branching out to specific wings, being mindful of the many pathways and potential bottlenecks.
Task Grouping Strategies
Instead of randomly wandering, try to complete tasks in logical clusters:
- Quadrant Clearing: Divide the map into quadrants and clear all tasks within a quadrant before moving to the next.
- Sequential Flow: Follow the natural flow of the map's layout. For example, if you need to go from Electrical to Communications, see if there are tasks in between that you can do.
- "U" or "C" Shaped Routes: These can be efficient for covering large areas without excessive backtracking.
Avoiding Backtracking
Backtracking is a major time sink. If you realize you need to go back across the map for a single task, it might be more efficient to complete other tasks nearby and then return, or to wait until you're naturally moving in that direction.
Visual Task Considerations
If you have a visual task (like MedBay Scan on The Skeld, or Trash Ejection on Polus), try to do it when other players are around to witness it. This is a powerful way to prove your innocence early on.
Example Route (The Skeld - Simplified)
- Start in Cafeteria: Do "Swipe Card" and "Prime Shields."
- Move to Weapons: Do "Clear Asteroids."
- Go to Navigation: Do "Chart Course."
- Head towards Shields: Do "Divert Power."
- Go to Electrical: Do "Fix Wiring" (if nearby). Be cautious here.
- If tasks remain in Storage/Admin, plan a path that connects them efficiently.
Remember, these are guidelines. Always adapt based on your specific task list, the actions of other players, and any emergent situations like sabotages or reported bodies.
