2.6. Reporting Bodies & Emergency Meetings
Reporting a body or calling an emergency meeting are the two primary ways to initiate a discussion phase in Among Us. These actions are critical for Crewmates to share information, accuse suspects, and ultimately try to identify and eject the Impostor(s). Understanding when and how to use these tools effectively is a cornerstone of Crewmate strategy.
When a Crewmate discovers a fallen comrade, the immediate instinct should be to report the body. This action triggers a discussion phase, bringing all living players together to analyze the situation. Similarly, if a player has strong suspicions or crucial information that cannot wait for a body to be found, they can use the emergency button, typically located in the Cafeteria or Meeting Room, to call a meeting.
Reporting a Body:
- Locate the Body: Find the fallen Crewmate's character model.
- Interact with the Body: Approach the body and press the "Report" button that appears on your screen.
- Initiate Discussion: The game will immediately pause, and all living players will be teleported to the meeting area.
Calling an Emergency Meeting:
- Locate the Emergency Button: Find the desated emergency button on the map (usually in the Cafeteria or Meeting Room).
- Interact with the Button: Press the "Use" or "Emergency" button.
- Confirm the Meeting: You may need to confirm your intention to call a meeting.
- Initiate Discussion: All living players will be teleported to the meeting area.
Strategic Considerations for Reporting/Meeting:
- When to Report:
- Immediately: If you find a body and have no immediate threat, report it to start the discussion.
- To Clear Yourself: If you are near a body and suspect you might be framed, reporting it can help you explain your presence.
- To Gather Information: If you have a strong suspicion about someone but no direct proof, reporting a body can give you a platform to voice your concerns.
- When to Call an Emergency Meeting:
- Witnessing a Vent/Kill: If you see an Impostor vent or kill someone but they escape before you can report the body, call an emergency meeting to report what you saw.
- Strong Suspicion: If you have a very strong gut feeling about someone based on their movements or behavior, and you want to discuss it before a body is found.
- To Prevent a Sabotage Win: If a critical sabotage (like O2 or Reactor) is about to cause a loss and you need to discuss a strategy or identify who is preventing the fix.
- To Confirm Alibis: If you need to quickly confirm where players were or who they were with.
- Impostor Considerations:
- Self-Reporting: Impostors can report bodies they've killed to appear innocent or to control the narrative. This is a risky but sometimes effective tactic.
- Calling Meetings to Frame: An Impostor might call a meeting to falsely accuse an innocent Crewmate, especially if they have a kill cooldown ready.
- Avoiding Meetings: Impostors generally want to avoid meetings if they have just killed someone or if suspicion is high on them.
Limitations:
- Emergency Button Cooldown: The emergency button has a cooldown period, meaning it cannot be spammed. This prevents constant interruptions and forces players to use it strategically.
- Number of Meetings: The number of emergency meetings that can be called is limited by game settings, further emphasizing the need for careful consideration.
Mastering the timing and purpose of reporting bodies and calling emergency meetings is essential for Crewmates to effectively gather information, build trust, and ultimately win the game. For Impostors, understanding these mechanics is key to manipulating discussions and avoiding detection.
