Among Us primarily features one main game mode, but with customizable settings that drastically change the experience. You can join a Public game, Host a game, or join a Private game using a code. Public games are great for quick matches, while Private games allow you to play with friends and set specific rules.
Game Settings
When hosting, you can customize numerous settings:
- Number of Impostors: 1, 2, or 3. This significantly impacts game balance.
- Crewmate Speed: How fast Crewmates move.
- Kill Cooldown: How long Impostors must wait between kills.
- Task Bar Updates: How the task bar progresses (Always, Meetings, Never).
- Visual Tasks: Whether certain tasks have visual animations that can prove innocence.
- Emergency Meetings: Number of meetings per player.
- Discussion Time & Voting Time: How long players have to talk and vote.
Experiment with these settings to find what you enjoy most. Many communities have preferred settings for competitive play.
