The Vitals feature, which displays the life status of all players, is a powerful tool for Crewmates. For Impostors, understanding how to operate around this feature and mitigate its effectiveness is crucial for maintaining deception and achieving victory.

Vitals, typically found in Security or a dedicated station, shows if players are 'Alive' or 'Dead'. A sudden change from 'Alive' to 'Dead' immediately sals a kill. Impostors must therefore develop strategies to avoid detection when a kill occurs or to manipulate the information Crewmates receive.

Impostor Strategies to Counter Vitals

  • Kill Away from Vitals Users: If you know someone is actively monitoring Vitals, try to lure them away or make your kill in an area where they are unlikely to see the status change immediately.
  • Use Sabotages to Distract: Critical sabotages like O2 and Reactor will draw players away from the Vitals station. This is an excellent opportunity to make a kill, as Crewmates will be focused on fixing the sabotage.
  • Coordinate Double Kills: If there are two Impostors, coordinating simultaneous kills can create chaos. While both players will show as dead, the confusion might make it harder for Crewmates to pinpoint who did what or where.
  • Kill and Immediately Vent/Move: As soon as a kill is made, use vents or move quickly to a different part of the map. This makes it harder for Crewmates to connect you to the kill when they check Vitals and then potentially the Admin map.
  • Frame Others: If you kill someone and then see another player's icon near the deceased on the Admin map, you can use this information to subtly frame them during discussions.
  • Be Aware of Who is Monitoring: Try to identify players who are consistently checking Vitals. These players are valuable targets or need to be avoided.
  • Fake Tasks Near Vitals: If you are in the vicinity of the Vitals station, pretend to be doing a task to appear as a legitimate Crewmate.
  • Don't Be the First to Report: If you kill someone, let another Crewmate discover the body and report it. This gives you time to establish an alibi elsewhere.

As an Impostor, it's crucial to understand how Crewmates use Vitals:

  • Immediate Detection of Kills: The primary use is to know instantly when a player has been eliminated.
  • Pinpointing Timeframes: Crewmates can use the exact time of death to narrow down suspect locations and alibis.
  • Identifying Suspicious Companions: If a player dies shortly after being seen with another, that companion becomes highly suspicious.
