3.3. Sabotage Guide & Usage

Sabotages are the Impostor's most potent tool for disruption and creating kill opportunities. Understanding how and when to use each sabotage can turn the tide of a game. This guide details the mechanics and strategic applications of every sabotage available to Impostors.

Master the art of sabotage in Among Us! This guide covers every Impostor sabotage, detailing its effects, strategic uses, and how to leverage them for kills and victory. Learn to disrupt, divide, and conquer.

Understanding Sabotage Mechanics

Each sabotage has a cooldown period after it's used. Critical sabotages (O2, Reactor) must be fixed by Crewmates within a time limit, or the Impostors win. Non-critical sabotages (Lights, Doors) create opportunities for kills and confusion but don't directly lead to an Impostor win.

Types of Sabotages and Their Strategic Uses

Sabotage Location(s) Effect Strategic Use
Lights Electrical (The Skeld, Polus), Comms (Mira HQ), Hub (Airship) Reduces Crewmate vision sificantly. Crewmates must go to Electrical/Comms/Hub to fix. Create Kill Opportunities: Ideal for isolating and killing a lone Crewmate in the dark.
Cause Confusion: Makes it harder for Crewmates to track each other.
Force Movement: Draws Crewmates to a specific location.
Doors Various locations on The Skeld, Mira HQ, Polus, Airship Temporarily locks specific doors, trapping players or blocking paths. Isolate Targets: Trap a victim with an Impostor.
Block Pursuers: Prevent Crewmates from reaching a body or witnessing a kill.
Split Groups: Divide Crewmates into smaller, more vulnerable factions.
O2 Depletion O2 (The Skeld), Reactor (Mira HQ), Specimen (Polus), Bridge (Airship) Initiates a countdown. Two Crewmates must interact with panels at different locations to fix. Impostors win if not fixed in time. Force Crewmates Apart: Requires two players to go to separate locations, creating kill opportunities.
Distract and Divide: Pulls attention away from other areas.
Pressure: Creates urgency and potential for mistakes.
Reactor Meltdown Reactor (The Skeld, Mira HQ), Specimen (Polus), Bridge (Airship) Initiates a countdown. Two Crewmates must interact with panels at different locations to fix. Impostors win if not fixed in time. Same as O2: Forces players apart, creates kill opportunities, and distracts.
Strategic Timing: Can be used to prevent a meeting or force players away from a body.
Communications (Comms) Communications (The Skeld, Polus), Comms (Mira HQ), Comms (Airship) Disables the taskbar, security cameras, admin table, and vitals. Crewmates must fix it at the Communications panel. Blind Crewmates: Prevents task progress tracking and surveillance.
Hide Kills: Makes it harder to confirm who was where.
Create Confusion: Disrupts information flow.
Specimen (Polus only) Specimen Room (Polus) Causes a temporary visual distortion and can be used to isolate. Minor Disruption: Less impactful than others, but can be used to create brief confusion or cover a quick kill.
Lab (Polus only) Laboratory (Polus) Can be used to temporarily lock down the area. Minor Disruption: Similar to door sabotages but localized.
Shields (Airship only) Shields (Airship) Disables shields, which can be a visual indicator for some tasks. Minor Disruption: Can be used to create minor confusion or cover a quick kill.

Advanced Sabotage Tactics

  • Sabotage & Vent: Sabotage a critical system, then immediately vent away to appear innocent or to set up another kill.
  • Sabotage & Kill: Use Lights or Doors to isolate a target, kill them, and then escape before anyone notices.
  • Sabotage for Information: Sabotage O2 or Reactor to see who responds and who doesn't, potentially identifying Crewmates who are AFK or Impostors who are slow to react.
  • Sabotage to Prevent Reports: If you just killed someone, sabotage a critical system to force Crewmates to fix it, preventing them from finding and reporting the body immediately.
  • Coordinated Sabotages: If playing with another Impostor, coordinate sabotages to split Crewmates or create maximum chaos.

Effective sabotage requires timing, awareness of Crewmate locations, and a clear understanding of the map. Use these tools wisely to sow discord and achieve victory.
