3.9. Impostor Communication & Sals
Impostors often need to coordinate their efforts to secure kills and avoid detection. While direct communication is impossible during gameplay, skilled impostors develop subtle sals and non-verbal cues to communicate with their partner. These sals can range from deliberate movements to specific interactions with the environment or other players. Understanding these hidden languages can help crewmates identify impostor pairs, and help impostors coordinate their next move.
Effective impostor teamwork relies on unspoken communication. This can involve a series of subtle actions that only the other impostor would understand. For instance, an impostor might intentionally walk past a vent to sal their intention to use it, or linger near a specific location to draw their partner's attention. Another common tactic is to 'clear' their partner by vouching for them, even if they weren't together. Recognizing these patterns is crucial for crewmates trying to deduce who the impostors are. Impostors might also use sabotages as sals; a specific sabotage might indicate a planned kill in a certain area.
- Vent Sals: A brief pause near a vent can sal intent to use it.
- Buddy System: Impostors might stick together to create alibis or set up double kills.
- Vouching: Impostors often defend each other, even if it seems illogical.
- Sabotage Coordination: Using sabotages to lure crewmates or create kill opportunities.
- "Self-Reporting": An impostor might report a body they just killed to control the narrative.
Consider these sals:
- Body Blocking: An impostor might subtly block a crewmate from seeing their partner kill.
- Task Faking: Impostors might 'fake' tasks in proximity to each other, creating a false sense of teamwork.
- Emergency Button: One impostor might call an emergency meeting to save their partner from being caught.
- Visual Task Interference: An impostor might 'accidentally' interrupt a visual task to prevent a crewmate from proving their innocence.
| Sal | Meaning |
