The Premise: Crewmates, Impostors, and Sabotage — Among Us Walkthrough

Welcome to Among Us, a game of teamwork, betrayal, and survival in the vastness of space. At its core, the game pits a group of ordinary Crewmates against a few hidden Impostors. Your goal is to either complete all your assed tasks or identify and eject all the Impostors before they can eliminate the crew.

Among Us is a multiplayer social deduction game where players work together on a spaceship, sky-setting, or planetary base. However, among them are one or more Impostors whose sole purpose is to sabotage the mission and kill the Crewmates. This walkthrough explains the fundamental premise, the roles, and the core mechanics that drive the game.

The Setting: Games typically take place on one of several maps: The Skeld (a spaceship), Mira HQ (a corporate building), Polus (a planetary base), or The Airship (a large, multi-level airship). Each map has unique layouts, tasks, and strategic points.

The Roles:

  • Crewmates: The majority of players are Crewmates. Their objectives are twofold:
    • Complete Tasks: Each Crewmate is assed a list of tasks to perform around the map. These tasks are mini-games that, when completed by all Crewmates, contribute to a collective taskbar. Filling this bar leads to a Crewmate victory.
    • Identify Impostors: Crewmates must observe each other, report dead bodies, and use emergency meetings to discuss suspicions and vote out players they believe are Impostors.
  • Impostors: A smaller number of players are secretly Impostors. They look identical to Crewmates but have malicious intentions. Impostors win by:
    • Eliminating Crewmates: They can kill Crewmates, but their kill ability has a cooldown period.
    • Sabotaging Critical Systems: Impostors can trigger sabotages that disrupt the Crewmates' progress or directly lead to a win if not resolved in time (e.g., O2 depletion, Reactor meltdown).
    • Outnumbering Crewmates: If the number of Impostors equals the number of Crewmates, the Impostors win.

Core Gameplay Mechanics:

  • Tasks: These are interactive mini-games that Crewmates must complete. Examples include: Uploading Data, Swiping Card, Divert Power, Fix Wiring, and Empty Garbage.
  • Sabotage: Impostors can initiate sabotages to hinder Crewmates. Common sabotages include:
    • Lights: Reduces Crewmate vision sificantly.
    • Comms: Disables security cameras, admin table, and task progress indicators.
    • O2 Depletion: Requires two Crewmates to fix at separate locations within a time limit.
    • Reactor Meltdown: Similar to O2, requires two Crewmates to fix at separate locations within a time limit.
    • Doors: Impostors can close doors to trap players or block pathways.
  • Reporting Bodies: When a Crewmate discovers a dead body, they can report it, triggering an emergency meeting.
  • Emergency Meetings: You can call emergency meetings using a button in a central location (e.g., Cafeteria on The Skeld). These meetings are for discussion and voting.
  • Discussions and Voting: During meetings, players discuss who they suspect is an Impostor. After discussion, players vote to eject someone from the ship. You with the most votes is ejected. If they were an Impostor, the Crewmates are one step closer to winning. If they were a Crewmate, the Impostors gain an advantage.
  • Vents: Impostors can use vents to quickly travel between different parts of the map, escape crime scenes, or set up ambushes. Crewmates cannot use vents.

The game continues until one of the win conditions is met: either all tasks are completed, all Impostors are ejected, or the Impostors successfully eliminate enough Crewmates or trigger a winning sabotage.
