Bells are essential for everything in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Your primary income sources early on will be selling fruit (especially non-native fruit), fish, and bugs. Dig up fossils and have them assessed at the museum before selling. Look for the glowing spot each day to dig up 1,000 Bells. Shake trees for bells and furniture too!
