Using the Photo Mode and AR Camera
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp offers fantastic ways to capture your favorite moments and share them with friends. Whether you're showcasing your meticulously decorated campsite, a special interaction with a camper, or bringing your Animal Crossing world into reality, the Photo Mode and AR Camera are your go-to tools. This detailed guide will walk you through mastering both features.
Accessing Photo Mode
Photo Mode allows you to take static screenshots of your game screen, perfect for capturing your campsite, cabin, or special event areas. It's a quick and easy way to document your Pocket Camp journey.
- Navigate to your desired location: Go to your Campsite, Cabin, Camper Interior, or any event area you wish to photograph.
- Open the Menu: Tap the "Menu" icon (four squares) located in the bottom-right corner of your screen.
- Select "Photo": From the expanded menu, tap the camera icon labeled "Photo."
- Adjust your shot:
- Zoom: Use a pinch gesture (two fingers) on your screen to zoom in or out.
- Pan: Drag a single finger across the screen to move the camera view.
- Rotate: Use a two-finger twist gesture to rotate the camera angle.
- Hide UI: Tap the "Hide UI" button (often represented by an eye icon) to remove all on-screen interface elements for a clean shot.
- Take the photo: Tap the camera shutter icon. The image will be saved directly to your device's photo gallery.
Exploring the AR Camera
The AR Camera is a more advanced feature that brings your Animal Crossing characters and furniture into the real world using augmented reality. This requires a device that supports AR functionality.
Activating the AR Camera
- Open the Menu: Tap the "Menu" icon (four squares) in the bottom-right of your screen.
- Select "AR Camera": Tap the icon that looks like a camera with a cube or "AR" label.
- Choose your AR Mode: You'll be presented with two primary options:
- AR Cabin: This mode allows you to place a life-sized virtual cabin in your real-world environment.
- AR Photo: This mode lets you place individual campers and furniture items into your real-world space.
Using AR Cabin
The AR Cabin mode is fantastic for creating immersive scenes with your favorite villagers and furniture, scaled to real-world size.
- Select "AR Cabin": After choosing AR Camera, tap on "AR Cabin."
- Scan your environment: Your device's camera will activate. Slowly move your device around a flat, well-lit surface (like a floor or table) until a grid appears. This indicates the game has detected a suitable surface.
- Place the Cabin: Tap on the grid to place your virtual cabin. You can adjust its position and rotation by dragging and pinching.
- Enter the Cabin: Once placed, you can "walk" into the virtual cabin by moving your physical device. The cabin's interior will appear around you.
- Interact and Photograph:
- Invite Campers: Tap the "Invite" button to bring campers from your Cabin into the AR space.
- Adjust Furniture: You can interact with furniture inside the AR Cabin as you would in the game, moving or rotating items.
- Take Photos: Tap the camera shutter icon to capture your AR scene. These photos are saved to your device.
- Exit AR Cabin: Tap the "Exit" button to return to the main game.
Using AR Photo
AR Photo mode gives you more granular control, allowing you to place individual campers and furniture items anywhere in your real environment.
- Select "AR Photo": After choosing AR Camera, tap on "AR Photo."
- Scan your environment: Similar to AR Cabin, move your device to scan a flat surface until a grid appears.
- Place Campers/Furniture:
- Add Campers: Tap the "Camper" icon to open your list of available campers. Select up to four campers to place.
- Add Furniture: Tap the "Furniture" icon to browse your inventory. Select items to place in the AR scene.
- Adjust Scale and Position: Use pinch gestures to resize items and campers. Drag with one finger to move them.
- Rotate: Use a two-finger twist gesture to rotate items and campers.
- Pose Campers: Tap on a placed camper to bring up a menu of poses and expressions. Experiment to find the perfect look!
- Take Photos: Tap the camera shutter icon to capture your AR creation. Photos are saved to your device.
- Exit AR Photo: Tap the "Exit" button to return to the main game.
Tips for Great Photos
- Lighting is Key: For AR photos, good natural light or even, bright indoor lighting will yield the best results. Avoid harsh shadows.
- Clean Backgrounds: For both Photo Mode and AR Camera, consider your background. A cluttered real-world background can distract from your AR subjects. In-game, a well-decorated but not overly busy area works best.
- Experiment with Angles: Don't just take eye-level shots! Try high angles looking down, or low angles looking up, to add drama and interest.
- Capture Interactions: In Photo Mode, wait for campers to interact with furniture or each other for more dynamic shots.
- Use Expressions and Poses: In AR Photo, take advantage of the various expressions and poses available for your campers to convey different moods and stories.
- Share with Friends: share your amazing creations on social media or with your in-game friends!
