After meeting Al Zahir and completing a few initial quests, you'll be tasked with acquiring Oriental goods, specifically Spices. Spices are a crucial need for your Occidental Citizens. To get Spices, you have two main options: either purchase them directly from Al Zahir's trading posts (if your reputation is high enough) or establish your own Oriental settlement. For the latter, you'll need to find an Oriental island with Date and Spice fertility. Build an Oriental Warehouse, then construct Date Plantations and Spice Farms. Remember that Oriental buildings require different resources, such as Quartz and Bricks, which you might need to trade for initially. Once you have a steady supply of Spices, load them onto a ship and transport them back to your Occidental island. Ensure your Occidental citizens have access to these goods by having a market building within their radius.
