Loot and Inventory: Managing Your Resources

Success in Apex Legends hinges on efficient looting and smart inventory management. From the moment you drop, you'll be scrambling for weapons, armor, healing items, and ammunition. Knowing what to prioritize, how much to carry, and how to organize your inventory can mean the difference between a triumphant victory and a swift elimination. This guide will break down the looting process, explain inventory slots, and offer strategies for maximizing your resourcefulness on the battlefield.

Upon landing, your immediate priority is to find a weapon and some basic armor. Early game loot is crucial for surviving initial encounters. As you progress, you'll encounter various types of loot scattered across the map, found in buildings, supply bins, and dropped by fallen enemies. These include weapons, ammunition, healing items (Syringes, Med Kits, Shield Cells, Shield Batteries, Phoenix Kits), grenades (Arc Stars, Frag Grenades, Thermite Grenades), and various weapon attachments (Optics, Stocks, Barrels, Mags, Backpacks, Helmets, Body Shields, Knockdown Shields). Understanding the rarity system (White, Blue, Purple, Gold) for armor and attachments is key, as higher rarity items offer superior protection and performance.

Your inventory is limited, with a set number of slots available. Backpacks are essential items that increase your total inventory slots, allowing you to carry more loot. A white backpack grants 2 extra slots, blue grants 4, purple grants 6, and gold grants 8. Each item occupies a specific number of slots: ammo typically takes up one slot per stack (up to a maximum), grenades take up one slot per stack, healing items vary, and weapons take up two slots. Prioritizing what to carry is a constant decision. Generally, you'll want a balanced loadout: two primary weapons, sufficient ammo for both, a mix of healing items, and a few grenades. Always ensure you have enough ammo for your primary weapons, especially if you're using energy or heavy ammo, which can be less common.

Inventory Slots and Backpacks

Item Slots Occupied
Weapon 2
Ammo Stack (Max 60 for most) 1
Grenade Stack (Max 2) 1
Syringe 1
Med Kit 2
Shield Cell 1
Shield Battery 2
Phoenix Kit 3

Inventory Management Strategies

  1. Prioritize Backpacks: Always pick up the highest rarity backpack you find.
  2. Ammo Balance: Carry enough ammo for your primary weapons, but don't hoard excessively.
  3. Healing Ratio: Aim for a good mix of Syringes/Med Kits and Shield Cells/Batteries.
  4. Grenade Utility: Carry a few grenades, but don't let them take up too many valuable slots.
  5. Drop Unnecessary Items: Regularly review your inventory and drop lower-tier items or excess ammo if you need space for something more critical.
  6. Know Your Ammo Types: Be aware of which ammo types your weapons use and prioritize accordingly.

Mastering loot and inventory management is a fundamental skill in Apex Legends. By making smart decisions about what to pick up and how to carry it, you'll be better equipped to survive and thrive in every match.
