The ARC are a formidable and varied enemy, and understanding their weaknesses is paramount to your survival. Each type of ARC unit, from the basic Grunts to the more specialized variants, possesses distinct vulnerabilities that can be exploited to gain a tactical advantage. Paying close attention to enemy behavior and visual cues will be your greatest asset.
ARC Grunts & Troopers: Overwhelm and Overpower
These are your most common adversaries. While they can be dangerous in numbers, their armor is relatively light. Aiming for headshots will significantly increase your damage output and allow you to dispatch them quickly. Explosive damage, such as from grenades or certain weapon mods, can also be effective at clearing out groups of Grunts.
Watchers: Precision and Disruption
Watchers are often deployed to scout and alert larger ARC forces. Their primary threat comes from their ability to call in reinforcements. While they have a visible sensor array on their heads, which is a critical weak point, they are also highly mobile. Prioritize taking them out early in an engagement to prevent being overwhelmed. A well-placed sniper shot or a burst of accurate fire can neutralize them before they become a major problem.
Bursters: Explosive Threats, Explosive Solutions
These volatile units are a significant threat due to their self-destruct capabilities. Engaging them at close range is extremely dangerous. The best strategy is to engage them from a distance, using weapons that can deal high damage quickly. Alternatively, if you are forced into close proximity, try to bait their explosion and then quickly reposition to avoid the blast radius. Some players find that shooting their explosive sacs directly can cause them to detonate prematurely, potentially taking out nearby enemies.
Shielded Variants: Breaking the Defense
Certain ARC units will be equipped with energy shields that absorb incoming fire. These shields are often directional and can be bypassed by flanking maneuvers. Weapons that deal energy damage or have armor-piercing capabilities can be effective at degrading or bypassing these shields. Alternatively, focus fire on the shield generator if it's a visible component, or wait for an opening when the shield is temporarily lowered.
The Architect & Boss Encounters: Coordinated Assaults
Larger, more powerful ARC entities like The Architect will have complex attack patterns and multiple weak points. These encounters often require coordinated efforts from the entire squad. Identifying the specific phases of their attack and targeting their exposed vulnerabilities during those windows is key. Communication about enemy positions and attack tells is vital for success.
