Defending the Base

The ARC will not rest, and their relentless assaults on your established bases are inevitable. Successfully defending your hard-won territory requires strategic planning, effective use of defenses, and coordinated combat efforts to repel the enemy waves.

Base defense missions are a critical test of your preparedness. The ARC will throw everything they have at you, from swarms of smaller units to heavily armored behemoths. Your ability to manage resources, deploy defensive structures effectively, and engage the enemy directly will determine the fate of your base and the survivors within. This is where your preparation truly pays off.

Understanding the Threat

ARC assaults typically follow patterns, but can be unpredictable:

• Wave-Based Attacks: Enemies often arrive in distinct waves, with increasing difficulty and variety.
• Target Prioritization: The ARC will focus on destroying key structures, generators, or the core of your base.
• Varied Enemy Types: Expect a mix of fast melee attackers, ranged units, artillery, and specialized ARC units designed to counter defenses.

Pre-Defense Preparations

Before the ARC arrives, ensure your base is ready:

1. Fortify Key Areas: Reinforce entry points and areas around critical objectives with barricades and reinforced walls.
2. Deploy Automated Defenses: Place turrets strategically to cover approaches. Ensure they have power and ammunition.
3. Set Up Traps: Spike traps and other deployables can be devastating against concentrated enemy forces.
4. Repair and Resupply: Ensure all defenses are in good condition and you have ample ammo and health packs.
5. Ass Roles (if co-op): If playing with others, designate roles for defense, offense, and repair.

During the Assault

When the ARC attacks, focus on these actions:

• Hold the Line: Prioritize defending your core structures and objectives.
• Target Priority: Focus fire on the most dangerous threats first, such as units that can disable your defenses or heavy hitters.
• Repair Under Fire: If possible, have a dedicated individual or team focus on repairing damaged defenses during lulls in combat.

• Conserve Resources: Use ammunition and consumables wisely.

Post-Defense Actions

After successfully repelling an assault:

• Assess Damage: Identify which defenses were destroyed or heavily damaged.
• Repair and Rebuild: Use gathered resources to repair and rebuild your fortifications.
• Resupply: Replenish ammunition and health packs.
• Gather Intel: Sometimes, defeated ARC units drop valuable intel or resources.
