Event Currencies & Shops

Event currencies are your primary means of acquiring valuable resources, operators, and exclusive items during limited-time events in Arknights. Mastering their acquisition and efficient spending is crucial for maximizing your event rewards and ensuring your Rhodes Island base thrives.

Understanding Event Currencies

Each major event introduces its own unique event currency. These currencies are typically earned by clearing event stages, completing event missions, and sometimes through daily login bonuses. You can track your current event currency balance directly on the event's main interface, usually found by tapping the event banner on the home screen.

  • Primary Event Currency: This is the main currency you'll farm from event stages. Its icon and name will be unique to each event. For example, the "Contingency Contract" event might use "Contract Bounty," while a story event like "Gavial: The Great Chief Returns" featured "Ancient Coinage." Always check the event details to identify the specific currency.
  • Secondary Event Currency (Sometimes Present): Some larger events might feature a secondary currency, often used for a specific mini-game, lottery, or a separate shop with different items. For instance, "Twilight of Wolumonde" had "Black Steel Commendations" for its lottery system, alongside the main "Wolumonde Commemorative Coin." Pay close attention to event announcements and in-game tutorials for details on these additional currencies and their uses. These secondary currencies often have different farming methods or are awarded for specific achievements within the event, so understanding their source is just as important as knowing their use.

Farming Strategies for Event Currencies

Efficient farming is key to clearing out the event shop. Don't just blindly grind stages; strategize to get the most out of your Sanity, which is a precious resource in Arknights.

  1. Identify High-Efficiency Stages:
    • Information Tab is Your Friend: Always check the event information tab (often labeled "Info" or "Details") for the stages that offer the best drop rates for the event currency. These are almost always the later stages in the event's main story (e.g., EX-8, S-3) or challenge modes, as they typically have higher Sanity costs but yield significantly more currency per run. Look for the "Sanity Cost vs. Currency Yield" ratio to determine the most efficient stage.
    • Sanity Efficiency: Prioritize stages that drop both event currency and materials you critically need for operator promotions or skill upgrades. This is known as "Sanity efficiency." For example, if a stage drops both event currency and Grindstone, and you need Grindstones, that stage becomes a top priority. Use external resources like Arknights Toolbox or Aceship to compare drop rates and identify the most efficient stages for your specific material needs. These tools often provide detailed tables showing expected Sanity cost per unit of material or currency.
    • Bonus Drops & First Clears: Look for stages with bonus drops. Some events have specific stages that offer increased currency yields or additional material drops on certain days or for specific challenges. Always complete the "First Clear" rewards for every stage, as these often provide a substantial one-time boost of event currency, Originium Prime, or other valuable items. These first clear rewards are typically found on the stage selection screen and are clearly marked.
  2. Sanity Management:
    • Daily Sanity Refreshes: use your daily Sanity refreshes wisely. Your Sanity naturally regenerates over time (1 Sanity per 6 minutes, or 10 Sanity per hour). Plan your farming sessions around these refreshes, ensuring you don't cap out on Sanity unless you're about to level up.
    • Originium Prime & Sanity Potions: Consider using Originium Prime or Sanity Potions (obtained from daily/weekly missions, login bonuses, or the monthly card) if you're aiming to clear out the entire event shop, especially for limited-time items or if you're behind on farming. Be mindful of your Originium Prime usage, as it's also used for Headhunting. A good rule of thumb is to only use Originium Prime for Sanity if you've already purchased the monthly card and are comfortable with your Headhunting budget. Sanity Potions, however, should be used freely as they expire.
    • Autodeploy: Autodeploy is your best friend for efficient farming. Once you've perfected a stage with a 3-star clear, set up autodeploy to farm it repeatedly without constant manual input. This allows you to passively gather resources while focusing on other tasks. Ensure your autodeploy team is robust enough to handle potential RNG or unexpected enemy spawns, especially on stages with varied enemy paths or high-damage enemies. Test your autodeploy a few times before committing to long farming sessions.
  3. Event Missions & Daily Quests:
    • Event-Specific Missions: Complete all event-specific daily and weekly missions. These often provide a significant boost to your event currency income and can unlock additional rewards, such as furniture, LMD, or even new operators. Check the "Missions" tab within the event interface regularly. These missions might require specific operator types, stage clears, or enemy defeats.
    • General Daily & Weekly Quests: Don't forget the general daily and weekly quests, as they provide Sanity Potions, LMD, Battle Records, and other resources that indirectly help with farming by providing the means to sustain your Sanity or level up operators for tougher stages. Completing all daily quests also grants valuable Orundum.

Navigating the Event Shop

The Event Shop is where you'll exchange your hard-earned event currency for valuable items. Access it from the main event interface, usually labeled "Event Exchange," "Trade Post," or "Supply Store."

Prioritizing Purchases: What to Buy First

Not all items in the event shop are created equal, and some offer significantly better value than others. Follow this general priority guide to maximize your gains:

  1. Limited-Time Operators & Their Tokens:
    • Acquire the Operator: If the event offers a free 5-star or 6-star operator (e.g., Flamebringer, Breeze, Pudding), acquire them immediately. These operators are often powerful, exclusive to the event, and cannot be obtained through Headhunting. They are typically available for a relatively low currency cost and represent excellent value.
    • Potential Tokens: After acquiring the operator, prioritize their Potential Tokens. Maxing out an event operator's potential (usually 5 tokens for a total of 6 potentials) is a significant power boost, reducing deployment cost, increasing stats, and often a requirement for certain event missions or achievements. The reduction in deployment cost is particularly valuable for many operators.
  2. Headhunting Permits & Orundum:
    • These are crucial for expanding your operator roster through the Headhunting system. Always prioritize buying any available Headhunting Permits (single or 10-pull) and Orundum. These are direct pulls for new operators and are always a high-value purchase, as they are otherwise obtained through Originium Prime conversion or daily/weekly missions.
  3. High-Tier Promotion Materials:
    • T4 and T3 Materials: Focus on T4 (Tier 4) and T3 (Tier 3) materials. Examples include Polyester Pack, Loxic Kohl, RMA70-12, Grindstone, Keton Colloid, Integrated Device, Orirock Cluster, and Manganese Ore. These are often the most Sanity-intensive to farm normally from main story stages and are excellent value in event shops, saving you countless Sanity points. Always check the material list for your desired E2 promotions and M3 skill upgrades.
    • Target Your Needs: Check your operator promotion and skill upgrade needs. Prioritize materials that you are currently low on or will need soon for your most important operators. Avoid buying materials you have hundreds of unless they are exceptionally cheap. A good strategy is to use the "Material Planner" tools available on fan sites to see what you'll need in the near future.
  4. Skill Books (T3 & T2):
    • Skill Summary - Vol. 3 (T3) and Skill Summary - Vol. 2 (T2) are always in high demand for leveling up operator skills. Stock up on these, especially Vol. 3, as they are crucial for reaching Skill Level 7 and beyond, which often unlocks significant power spikes for operators.
    • Skill Summary - Vol. 1 (T1) is generally less of a priority as it's easier to farm from lower-tier stages and less impactful on high-level skill upgrades.
  5. Exclusive Furniture & Furniture Parts:
    • If you're interested in base customization and increasing your base's comfort rating, acquire the exclusive furniture pieces first. These are often unique to the event and contribute significantly to themed sets, providing a passive increase to your base's morale recovery rate.
    • Furniture Parts are a good secondary purchase if you have leftover currency and want to expand your base's comfort rating or craft other furniture. However, they are generally lower priority than operator advancement materials unless you are specifically aiming for a high comfort rating or certain furniture sets.
  6. Battle Records & LMD:
    • While essential for leveling operators, Battle Records (especially Tactical Battle Record) and LMD are generally less Sanity-efficient to buy from event shops compared to direct material farming, unless you are critically low. Purchase these last, or only if you have excess currency after securing all other high-priority items. Your main source for these should typically be the Cargo Escort and Tactical Drill daily missions, as well as the base's Trading Post.

Shop Reset & Item Limits

  • Fixed Stock: Most event shops have a fixed stock for each item. Once purchased, they are gone for the duration of the event. The quantity available for each item is usually displayed next to its price, often shown as "X/Y" where X is purchased and Y is total available.
  • Lottery/Gacha Shops: Some event shops might feature a "second tab" or a "lottery" system (e.g., the "Pinboard" system from "Code of Brawl" or "Twilight of Wolumonde"). These systems often allow you to pull from a pool of items, with the pool refreshing after you've obtained certain key items or after a set number of pulls. Always check the event details for these mechanics, as they can be a great source of additional materials, LMD, and even rare items. These lottery systems often have a "reset" button that allows you to refresh the prize pool even if you haven't cleared out all items, but typically only after obtaining the most valuable rewards (like the event operator's tokens or rare materials). Use this strategically to maximize your gains.
  • Limited-Time Availability: Remember that event shops are only open for the duration of the event. Once the event concludes, the shop closes, and any unspent event currency will typically be converted into LMD at a fixed, often unfavorable, rate. spend all your currency before the event ends!

Advanced Tips for Event Shop Management

  • Consult Community Guides: Before an event even starts, or shortly after, check community resources like Reddit, GamePress, or Aceship. Dedicated players often create detailed farming guides, sanity efficiency charts, and shop priority lists tailored to the specific event. These can save you a lot of time and Sanity.
  • Plan Your Farming Route: Don't just farm the highest currency stage. If a lower-tier stage drops a material you desperately need (e.g., Orirock Cube for a new operator's E1 promotion) and also yields a decent amount of event currency, it might be more Sanity-efficient to farm that stage for a while before switching to the pure currency-farming stage.
  • Check Your Inventory: Before buying materials from the shop, always check your current inventory. There's no point in buying Sugar if you already have 200 of them and no operators needing them soon. Focus on materials that are bottlenecks for your current or planned operator upgrades.
  • Don't Overfarm: While it's tempting to clear out the entire shop, sometimes it's not the most Sanity-efficient use of your resources. If you've acquired all the high-priority items (operator, tokens, permits, high-tier materials, skill books) and only low-value items like T1 materials, LMD, or low-tier Battle Records remain, consider if your remaining Sanity might be better spent farming regular story stages for other materials or chips.
  • Event Operator as a Farming Tool: If the event provides a free operator, level them up quickly. Often, these operators have bonuses for the event stages (e.g., increased currency drops, reduced deployment cost) or are specifically designed to excel in the event's challenge stages. using them can make your farming more efficient.

By following these guidelines, you'll be well-equipped to navigate the complexities of Arknights' event currencies and shops, ensuring you get the most out of every limited-time event and strengthen your Rhodes Island squad.
