"Darknights Memoir" - DM-EX-6: Unspoken Promise
DM-EX-6, "Unspoken Promise," from the "Darknights Memoir" event, is a notoriously challenging EX stage that tests your ability to manage multiple high-threat enemies simultaneously, particularly the formidable Wraith Leaders and the relentless Infused Originium Slugs. Mastering crowd control, strategic healing, and precise damage application is crucial for success. This stage also introduces the unique mechanic of Originium Altars, which can be both a blessing and a curse.
Stage Mechanics: Originium Altars & Corrupted Tiles
- Originium Altars: These special tiles periodically generate Infused Originium Slugs. When an Altar is destroyed, it deals Arts damage to all surrounding units (both allies and enemies) and converts adjacent tiles into Corrupted Tiles.
- Corrupted Tiles: Operators deployed on Corrupted Tiles continuously lose HP. Enemies on Corrupted Tiles gain a significant DEF and RES boost. This makes destroying Altars a double-edged sword, requiring careful planning.
- Infused Originium Slugs: These slugs have high HP and DEF, but low RES. They explode upon defeat, dealing Arts damage to surrounding units. They are immune to most forms of crowd control except for Stun.
- Wraith Leaders: These elite enemies possess high HP, DEF, and RES, and are immune to most forms of crowd control. They also have a unique ability to become temporarily invisible after taking a certain amount of damage, making them difficult to target.
Recommended Squad Composition:
- 2 Vanguards:
- One DP-on-kill Vanguard (e.g., Vigna, Grani, Bagpipe S2) for early DP generation and handling initial slugs.
- One Skill-DP-recovery Vanguard (e.g., Myrtle S1/S2, Elysium S1/S2) for rapid DP generation.
- 2 Defenders:
- One Healing Defender (e.g., Saria S1/S2, Gummy S1) for sustained healing on the front lines.
- One High-DEF Defender (e.g., Hoshiguma S2/S3, Cuora S2) to tank heavy hits from Wraith Leaders.
- 2 Medics:
- One ST Medic (e.g., Kal'tsit S2/S3 with Mon3tr, Shining S2/S3 for DEF buffs, Warfarin S2 for ATK buffs) for focused healing on key tanks.
- One AoE Medic (e.g., Ptilopsis S2 for SP recovery, Perfumer S2 for global regeneration) to mitigate passive damage from Corrupted Tiles and slug explosions.
- 2 Snipers:
- One Anti-Air Sniper (e.g., Exusiai S3, Ash S2, Platinum S2) for high single-target damage against slugs and Wraith Leaders.
- One AoE Sniper (e.g., Meteorite S1/S2, Shirayuki S2) for clearing groups of slugs and dealing splash damage.
- 2 Casters:
- One ST Caster (e.g., Eyjafjalla S2/S3, Amiya S2/S3) for burst Arts damage against high-DEF enemies like Wraith Leaders.
- One AoE Caster (e.g., Ifrit S2/S3 for lane control, Gitano S2) for clearing slug waves.
- 2 Specialists/Supporters (Flex Slots):
- Fast-Redeploy Specialist: (e.g., Project Red S1/S2, Phantom S2/S3) invaluable for stunning Infused Originium Slugs before they explode, absorbing damage, or quickly eliminating priority targets.
- Push/Pull Specialist: (e.g., Shaw S1/S2, Rope S1/S2, Weedy S2/S3) can be used to push enemies into pits or away from key operators, or to reposition slugs.
- Slow Supporter: (e.g., Angelina S2/S3, Podenco S2, Suzuran S2/S3) for crowd control on slugs and providing additional Arts damage.
- Buffer/Debuffer: (e.g., Sora S2, Pramanix S2) can significantly boost your team's damage or weaken enemy defenses.
Walkthrough Steps:
This walkthrough assumes a standard deployment strategy. Adapt operator choices based on your roster and module upgrades.
- Initial DP Generation & Early Slug Control (0:00 - 0:45):
Deployment 1 (DP-Gen Vanguard): Deploy your Skill-DP-recovery Vanguard (e.g., Myrtle S1) on the DP-generating tile at (C4) facing right. Activate her skill immediately to generate DP.
Deployment 2 (DP-on-Kill Vanguard): As soon as you have enough DP, deploy your DP-on-kill Vanguard (e.g., Vigna) on (E4) facing left. This position will intercept the first wave of Infused Originium Slugs coming from the top-right spawn point.
Deployment 3 (Anti-Air Sniper): Deploy your Anti-Air Sniper (e.g., Exusiai) on the elevated tile at (D3) facing right. She will help eliminate slugs and provide early damage against the first Wraith Leader.
Deployment 4 (Healing Defender): Place your Healing Defender (e.g., Saria) on (F4) facing left. She will tank the slugs and provide healing to Vigna and herself.
- Establishing the Main Defensive Line & Altar Management (0:45 - 2:00):
Deployment 5 (ST Medic): Deploy your ST Medic (e.g., Kal'tsit) on the elevated tile at (E3) facing left. Immediately deploy Mon3tr on (G4) facing left. Mon3tr will provide crucial blocking and high Arts damage, especially against the first Wraith Leader.
Deployment 6 (ST Caster): Place your ST Caster (e.g., Eyjafjalla) on the elevated tile at (D2) facing right. Her Arts damage is vital for quickly eliminating Wraith Leaders.
First Wraith Leader (approx. 1:15): The first Wraith Leader will approach from the top-right. Focus all available damage on it. If Mon3tr's skill is ready, activate it. Be prepared for it to go invisible; your Snipers and Casters should still target it once it reappears.
Altar 1 (C3) Management: The Originium Altar at (C3) will periodically spawn slugs. You can choose to destroy it early with an AoE Caster or Sniper, but be mindful of the Corrupted Tiles it creates. If you destroy it, immediately deploy an AoE Medic or a Fast-Redeploy operator to absorb the damage or clear the slugs it spawns.
- Mid-Game Pressure & Second Wraith Leader (2:00 - 3:30):
Deployment 7 (AoE Medic): Deploy your AoE Medic (e.g., Ptilopsis) on the elevated tile at (C2) facing right. Her healing range should cover your main defensive line and mitigate damage from slug explosions and potential Corrupted Tiles.
Deployment 8 (High-DEF Defender): Place your High-DEF Defender (e.g., Hoshiguma) on (G5) facing left. This position will help reinforce your line against the increasing number of slugs and the second Wraith Leader.
Second Wraith Leader (approx. 2:45): A second Wraith Leader will appear from the top-right. Activate your Casters' and Snipers' offensive skills (e.g., Eyjafjalla S3, Exusiai S3) to burst it down. Use Project Red S2 if available to stun slugs or absorb damage.
Altar 2 (F2) Management: The Altar at (F2) will also start spawning slugs. Consider deploying an AoE Sniper (e.g., Meteorite) on (G2) facing left to help clear these slugs and potentially destroy the Altar from a safe distance, minimizing Corrupted Tile impact on your main line.
- Late-Game Surge & Final Push (3:30 - End):
Deployment 9 (AoE Caster/Sniper): If you haven't already, deploy an AoE Caster (e.g., Ifrit on (B4) facing right, if you can angle her lane) or an AoE Sniper to handle the increasing slug density. Ifrit is particularly effective here if positioned correctly to hit multiple lanes.
Third Wraith Leader (approx. 4:00): The final Wraith Leader, often accompanied by a large wave of Infused Originium Slugs, will emerge. This is the most critical phase. Unleash all remaining powerful offensive skills. Focus fire on the Wraith Leader first, then use AoE to clear the slugs.
Fast-Redeploy Utility: Continuously use your Fast-Redeploy Specialist (e.g., Project Red) to stun Infused Originium Slugs before they explode near your operators, or to bait enemy attacks. She can also be used to quickly destroy an Altar if necessary, then retreat.
Healing Management: Monitor your operators' HP closely, especially those on Corrupted Tiles or taking damage from slug explosions. Activate your Medics' skills (e.g., Ptilopsis S2, Kal'tsit S2/S3) as needed.
Final Waves: The last few waves consist of more slugs and potentially a few armored enemies. Maintain your defensive line and use any remaining skills to clear them out.
Common Pitfalls & Tips:
- Ignoring Slugs: Infused Originium Slugs, while individually not a huge threat, can overwhelm your healers and deal significant Arts damage upon explosion if not controlled. Prioritize stunning them or eliminating them before they reach your main line.
- Mismanaging Altars: Destroying an Altar prematurely can create Corrupted Tiles that severely weaken your operators. Only destroy them if you have a plan to mitigate the damage (e.g., strong AoE healing, redeploying operators). Sometimes, it's better to let them spawn slugs and deal with the slugs directly.
- Wraith Leader Invisibility: Don't panic when Wraith Leaders go invisible. Your operators will still target them once they reappear. Ensure you have enough burst damage to finish them off quickly. Operators with true sight (e.g., Phantom S3 clone, certain drone skills) can still hit them.
- DP Starvation: Early DP generation is crucial. If your Vanguards struggle, consider bringing a third DP-generating unit or using a support unit with DP recovery.
- Operator Placement: Pay close attention to operator facing direction. Many enemies come from the top-right, so most operators should face left or right to cover the main paths.
- Skill Timing: Save powerful offensive skills (e.g., Eyjafjalla S3, Exusiai S3) for the Wraith Leaders. Use them strategically to burst down these high-threat enemies.
