Forlì

Welcome to Forlì, a crucial, albeit smaller, region in Ezio's journey. This guide will help you navigate its challenges, recover the Apple of Eden, and ensure a smooth experience through the "Battle of Forlì" DLC content. While compact, Forlì presents unique combat scenarios and objectives that require careful planning and execution.

Memory Sequence 12: Battle of Forlì

This memory sequence focuses on defending Forlì from the Orsi brothers and recovering the Apple of Eden. Be prepared for intense combat and strategic movements.

Mission 1: The Defense of Forlì

The city is under attack! Your primary goal is to repel the invading forces and protect Caterina Sforza.

  • Initial Objective: Head towards the main gate where the battle is raging. You'll find Caterina Sforza engaged in combat.
  • Strategy:
    • Focus on eliminating the soldiers attacking Caterina first. Use your hidden blades for quick assassinations on isolated targets, or engage groups with counter-attacks and disarms.
    • Utilize environmental kills where possible (e.g., throwing enemies into water or off ledges).
    • Keep an eye on Caterina's health bar. If it gets too low, prioritize enemies attacking her.
  • Reinforcements: More enemies will continuously spawn. Don't get overwhelmed. Retreat to rooftops for a moment if needed to break line of sight and heal.
  • Secondary Objective: After clearing the initial wave, you'll need to defend specific checkpoints or gates. Follow the on-screen markers.
  • Reward: Successfully defending Forlì will complete this mission and lead directly into the next phase.

Mission 2: The Orsi Brothers

The Orsi brothers, Ludovico and Checco, are the masterminds behind the attack. You must eliminate them to secure Forlì and retrieve the Apple of Eden.

  • Tracking the Orsi:
    • After the defense, Caterina will inform you of the Orsi brothers' whereabouts. They will be attempting to escape with the Apple.
    • Follow the objective marker, which will lead you to a chase sequence.
    • Important: Do not lose sight of them. Use parkour efficiently, and don't hesitate to tackle civilians if they obstruct your path.
  • Confronting Ludovico Orsi:
    • Ludovico will likely be encountered first, often on a rooftop or within a small courtyard.
    • He is a capable fighter, but not overly challenging. Employ your standard combat tactics: counter-attacks, disarms, and swift assassinations if you can get behind him.
    • Once Ludovico is dealt with, the chase for Checco and the Apple continues.
  • Confronting Checco Orsi and the Apple of Eden:
    • Checco will be fleeing with the Apple of Eden. This is a critical moment.
    • Strategy: Chase him relentlessly. He will attempt to escape through the city streets and rooftops.
    • When you finally corner him, he will engage you in combat. Checco is more agile than Ludovico.
    • Crucial Step: After defeating Checco, he will drop the Apple of Eden. Immediately pick it up. Do not delay, as other enemies might try to interfere, or the game might glitch if you don't secure it quickly.
  • Aftermath: Once the Apple is in your possession, the mission will conclude, but not without a twist.

Collectibles and Side Activities in Forlì

While the main story in Forlì is linear, there are still opportunities for exploration and collection.

  • Feathers: Forlì contains a small number of feathers. Consult your map and synchronize viewpoints to reveal their locations. Collecting all feathers in Forlì contributes to the overall feather collection achievement/trophy.
  • Glyphs: There is at least one Glyph hidden within Forlì. Look for the distinct glowing symbol on walls or structures. Solving the associated puzzle will unlock a piece of "The Truth."
  • Viewpoints: Synchronize all viewpoints in Forlì to reveal map details and unlock fast travel points. This is especially useful for quickly navigating the small city.
  • Treasures: Keep an eye out for treasure chests scattered throughout the city. These provide florins, which are always useful for upgrades and supplies.

General Tips for Forlì

  • Stock Up: Before starting the "Battle of Forlì" sequence, ensure you have a good supply of medicine and smoke bombs. Smoke bombs are excellent for crowd control during the defense missions.
  • Armor Repair: If your armor is damaged from previous encounters, visit a Blacksmith in a major city (like Florence or Venice) before heading to Forlì. There isn't a Blacksmith readily available in Forlì during the main sequence.
  • Combat Focus: Forlì's missions are combat-heavy. Master your counter-attack and disarm techniques. Remember that throwing sand can temporarily blind multiple enemies, giving you an opening.
  • Environmental Awareness: Use the environment to your advantage. High ground offers escape routes, and certain structures can be used for aerial assassinations.
