Welcome, aspiring pirate and Assassin! This detailed section will guide you through every treacherous step of Edward Kenway's journey in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. We'll cover primary objectives, optional challenges, and provide actionable strategies to ensure your success on the high seas and bustling ports of the Caribbean.

Sequence 1: Edward Kenway

A Familiar Stranger

• Objective: Assassinate the Templar, Duncan Walpole.
• Walkthrough:
  1. Immediately after the cinematic, you'll be thrust into a naval battle. Focus fire on the enemy brig using your swivel guns (aim for weak points highlighted in red) and broadside cannons. Prioritize destroying its mast to immobilize it.
  2. Once the brig is disabled, board it. Climb the rigging to reach the upper deck quickly.
  3. Engage the remaining crew. Utilize your hidden blades for stealth kills or your cutlass for open combat. Remember to counter incoming attacks.
  4. After clearing the deck, locate Duncan Walpole. He will attempt to flee. Chase him across the ship, using free-running to navigate obstacles.
  5. Perform an air assassination or a direct kill once you're close enough.
  6. Loot: loot Walpole's body for his Assassin robes and a valuable artifact.
• Optional Challenge: Kill 3 guards with a single shot from a swivel gun. This can be achieved during the initial naval combat by lining up your shot carefully when enemy crew members are clustered on the deck of their ship.

And the Walls Came Tumbling Down

• Objective: Escape the burning plantation and reach the shore.
• Walkthrough:
  1. Following the shipwreck, you'll find yourself on a beach. Follow the path inland, keeping an eye out for patrolling guards.
  2. Utilize tall grass for cover and perform stealth assassinations. Your hidden blades are your best friend here.
  3. You'll encounter a small encampment. Use environmental hazards like explosive barrels to take out multiple enemies silently.
  4. Proceed through the jungle, climbing trees and using branches to bypass patrols.
  5. Reach the viewpoint at the top of the ruins. Synchronize to reveal the surrounding area on your map.
  6. Perform a Leap of Faith into the hay cart below.
  7. Continue towards the shore, avoiding or eliminating the remaining guards.
  8. Item Acquisition: You'll automatically acquire your first set of basic pistols during this mission.
• Optional Challenge: Avoid combat with all guards. This requires careful planning and extensive use of stealth, distractions (like whistling), and environmental navigation.

Sequence 2: ...And My Brother's Keeper

Nothing is True...

• Objective: Infiltrate Havana and meet with the Templars.
• Walkthrough:
  1. Upon arriving in Havana, you'll need to blend in. Follow the marked path, staying close to crowds to avoid detection.
  2. Locate the tailor shop marked on your map. Purchase a new outfit to further blend in. The "Havana Outfit" is the default option.
  3. Proceed to the tavern. You'll need to eavesdrop on a conversation between two guards. Sit on a nearby bench or blend with a group of citizens to listen without being detected.
  4. After gathering information, head towards the Templar meeting point. This will involve navigating through crowded streets and past guard patrols.
  5. Strategy: If detected, use smoke bombs to disorient guards and escape, or engage in combat if necessary. Remember to loot fallen enemies for money and supplies.
• Optional Challenge: Pickpocket 3 civilians. While navigating Havana, approach civilians from behind and press the designated button to pickpocket them.

...Everything is Permitted

• Objective: Assassinate the target at the governor's mansion.
• Walkthrough:
  1. The governor's mansion is a heavily guarded area. Approach from the rooftops for a stealth advantage.
  2. Identify the target using your Eagle Vision. He will be highlighted in gold.
  3. Utilize air assassinations from ledges or haystacks to eliminate guards silently.
  4. There are multiple entry points. Consider using a side entrance or a less guarded wall to gain access to the inner courtyard.
  5. Once inside, navigate towards the target. He will often be in a central, open area.
  6. Execution: Wait for an opportune moment when the target is isolated or near a blending spot. A stealth kill is highly recommended for full synchronization.
  7. After the assassination, escape the mansion area. The rooftops provide an excellent escape route.
• Optional Challenge: Perform a double assassination. Look for two guards patrolling closely together and perform a simultaneous kill. This is often achievable near the mansion's main gate or within the courtyard.
