This section provides a detailed guide on how to acquire these crucial clues, ensuring you don't miss a single lead.

Understanding Cultist Clues

Each Cultist has one or more clues that, once collected, will reveal their identity and location on your Cultist menu. Some clues are straightforward, found on defeated enemies or in specific locations. Others are tied to quests, requiring specific choices or actions to obtain. some clues can be missed or become inaccessible if you progress too far in certain questlines or make particular narrative choices.

General Strategies for Clue Collection

Loot Everything: Always loot defeated enemies, especially mercenaries, leaders, and quest targets. Many cultist clues are found on their bodies.
Explore Thoroughly: Investigate every fort, camp, cave, and historical location. Clues are often hidden in chests or on tables within these areas.
Complete Side Quests: Many cultist clues are rewards for completing specific side quests. Don't skip them!
Check Message Boards: Sometimes, contracts or bounties on message boards can lead you to cultists or clue locations.
Use Ikaros: Your eagle companion, Ikaros, is invaluable for scouting out points of interest, including chests and quest objectives that might contain clues.

Specific Clue Acquisition Walkthroughs

Below, we'll detail how to acquire some of the more elusive or easily missed cultist clues. This is not an exhaustive list of every single clue, as many are obtained naturally through story progression or by simply defeating a cultist's subordinate. Instead, we focus on those that require specific steps or can be impacted by player choices.

The Peloponnesian League Branch

This branch contains some of the trickiest clues, particularly concerning Pausanias.

Pausanias's Clues (The King): Pausanias has a total of five clues, but one is easily missed.
- Crucial Choice: To obtain all five clues, you must not kill the Monger in the cave during the quest "Monger Down" in Korinthia. Instead, choose to expose him publicly.
- Follow Brasidas's Plan: When Brasidas suggests a public execution, agree to it. This will lead to a different outcome where Brasidas's Cultist friend will repent and provide a crucial clue regarding Pausanias.
- Avoid Stentor: If you kill the Monger in the cave, a clue for Pausanias will be found on Stentor later, but this means you've missed the opportunity to get the full set of five clues from the earlier choice.
Kleon's Clues (The Sage): Kleon is unique as the only Sage with four clues. These are generally acquired through main story progression and related quests, so ensure you complete all main quests in Attika and the surrounding regions.

The Eyes of Kosmos Branch

Clues for this branch are often tied to mercenary hunts and specific locations.

The Centaur of Euboea: His clue is found on him after defeating him. He often appears as a high-ranking mercenary. Track him through the mercenary menu if you haven't encountered him naturally.
Hermippos: His clue is obtained during the side quest "A Business Opportunity" in Attika. complete this questline.

The Worshippers of the Bloodline Branch

Many clues here are found by exploring ruins and completing specific side quests.

Zoisme: Her clue is found in the Sanctuary of Eleusis in Attika. Look for it in a chest or on a table within the sanctuary.
Chrysis: Her identity is revealed during the main quest "Death Comes for Us All" in Argolis. The clue is obtained as part of this quest.

The Delian League Branch

These cultists are often involved in naval activities or found in island regions.

Skylax the Fair: His clue is found on him after you defeat him in a naval battle or on land. He often patrols the waters around the Silver Islands.
Brison: His clue is obtained during the main quest "A Bloody Feast" in Mykonos.

The Gods of the Aegean Sea Branch

This branch exclusively consists of naval cultists. Their clues are found on them after you sink their ships.

The Octopus: Her clue is found on her after you defeat her ship. She often patrols the waters around Messara.
Sokos: His clue is found on him after you defeat his ship. He can be found in the waters around Obsidian Islands.
