Even in the vast and beautiful world of Ancient Greece, a few pesky bugs can occasionally disrupt your Odyssey. This section details some common issues encountered by players and provides actionable workarounds to help you continue your journey smoothly.

Quest Progression Blockers

"A Shipwreck of a Problem" - Kephallonia

This early-game side quest, often picked up in Kephallonia, can sometimes bug out, preventing the objective from updating after interacting with the shipwreck. This typically occurs if you leave the immediate quest area or engage in combat before fully looting the necessary items.

• Symptoms: Quest marker remains on the shipwreck, but no new objective appears after looting.
• Workaround:
  1. Reload a Previous Save: The most reliable fix is to reload a save file from before you initiated the quest or before you approached the shipwreck.
  2. Fast Travel Away and Back: If reloading isn't an option, try fast traveling to a distant synchronization point (e.g., the Statue of Zeus on Kephallonia), then fast travel back to the quest giver or the shipwreck location. This can sometimes reset the quest trigger.
  3. Complete Other Activities: Engage in other activities for a short period, such as clearing a nearby bandit camp or hunting animals. Return to the shipwreck after 5-10 minutes of in-game time.

"The Serpent's Lair" - Phokis

During the main questline in Phokis, some players have reported issues with the objective not updating after defeating the Cultist targets in the Serpent's Lair. This can prevent progression to the next stage of the quest.

• Symptoms: All Cultists in the lair are defeated, but the quest objective "Investigate the Serpent's Lair" or "Report to Elpenor" does not update.
• Workaround:
  1. Thoroughly Loot the Area: Ensure you have looted every single body and chest within the Serpent's Lair. Sometimes a key item or document is required to trigger the next stage. Pay particular attention to any glowing interactable objects.
  2. Exit and Re-enter the Lair: Leave the Serpent's Lair completely (fast travel out if possible), then return. This can sometimes force the game to re-evaluate the quest conditions.
  3. Verify Cultist Defeat: Double-check your Cultist menu to confirm that all Cultists associated with this segment have been marked as defeated. If one is still alive but not visible, try using Ikaros to scan the area again.

Visual & Performance Glitches

Stuck in Terrain/Falling Through World

Occasionally, especially in dense environments or during rapid movement, your character (Alexios or Kassandra) may become stuck in environmental geometry or fall through the game world, leading to an instant desynchronization.

• Symptoms: Character unable to move, falling endlessly, or instant desynchronization.
• Workaround:
  1. Fast Travel: The quickest solution is to open your map and fast travel to the nearest synchronization point or a safe location like your ship, the Adrestia.
  2. Reload Last Save: If fast travel is not available or doesn't resolve the issue, reload your most recent autosave or manual save.
  3. Attempt to Crouch/Jump: In minor cases of being stuck, repeatedly pressing the crouch and jump buttons can sometimes dislodge your character.

NPCs Not Spawning or Interacting

Certain NPCs vital for quests or services (like Blacksmiths or quest givers) may sometimes fail to spawn or become unresponsive.

• Symptoms: Quest giver is absent from their marked location, or an NPC cannot be interacted with.
• Workaround:
  1. Meditate to Change Time of Day: Many NPCs have schedules. Meditating to change the time of day (e.g., from day to night or vice-versa) can often cause them to spawn or reset their position.
  2. Fast Travel Away and Back: Similar to quest blockers, leaving the region via fast travel and then returning can force the game to reload the area and its inhabitants.
  3. Restart the Game: For persistent issues, fully closing and restarting Assassin's Creed Odyssey can resolve NPC spawning problems.

User Interface & Inventory Issues

Inventory Item Duplication/Disappearance

While rare, some players have reported instances of items either duplicating in their inventory or disappearing entirely, particularly after major patches or system crashes.

• Symptoms: Multiple copies of unique legendary items, or missing quest items/gear.
• Workaround:
  1. Do Not Sell Duplicates: If you encounter duplicated legendary items, do not sell them. Selling duplicates can sometimes lead to further inventory corruption.
  2. Reload a Prior Save: If a critical item (especially a quest item) goes missing, your best bet is to reload a save from before the item disappeared. Regularly manual saving is highly recommended.
