Shops & Vendors
Constantinople is a bustling hub of commerce, and knowing where to find the right vendors is crucial for Ezio's success. From replenishing your bomb supplies to upgrading your arsenal and even renovating the city, these merchants are your lifeline. This section details the various shop types, what they offer, and strategic tips for their use.
Blacksmiths
Blacksmiths are your primary source for all things combat-related. You'll find them marked with a hammer icon on your map. Early in the game, prioritize upgrading your armor and weapons to increase Ezio's survivability and damage output, especially before tackling challenging Den Defense missions or heavily guarded areas.
- Weapons: Purchase new swords, daggers, and other melee weapons. Look for weapons with higher damage and speed ratings. Consider the Janissary Kilij for its excellent balance of power and speed once available.
- Armor: Upgrade your armor pieces (Vambraces, Greaves, Chest Plate, Pauldrons). Each upgrade increases your overall health bar. The Master Assassin Armor, unlocked through completing Assassin Den challenges, is the best in the game and provides significant damage resistance.
- Ammunition: Replenish your crossbow bolts, pistol bullets, and throwing knives. Always keep these stocked, as they are invaluable for stealth takedowns and ranged combat.
- Repair: Your armor and weapons degrade over time. Visit a Blacksmith regularly to repair them, preventing reduced effectiveness in combat.
Strategy Tip: Renovating a Blacksmith shop will grant you a discount on all purchases from that specific vendor, and eventually all Blacksmiths in the district. Prioritize renovating Blacksmiths in districts you frequent most.
Tailors
Tailors, identified by a spool of thread icon, offer several useful items that enhance Ezio's stealth and social blending capabilities.
- Dye Kits: Change the color of Ezio's robes. While primarily cosmetic, some players find certain colors help with blending in specific environments.
- Pouches: Upgrade your capacity for various items. Prioritize purchasing the larger Medicine Pouch, Bomb Pouch, and Ammunition Pouch as soon as they become available. This allows you to carry more vital supplies, reducing the need for frequent vendor visits.
- Armor Dyes: Similar to robe dyes, these change the appearance of your armor.
Strategy Tip: The larger Bomb Pouch is particularly useful for bomb enthusiasts, allowing you to carry a wider array of bomb types and quantities for different tactical situations.
Doctors
Doctors are essential for maintaining Ezio's health and are marked by a cross icon. They are your primary source for healing items.
- Medicine: Purchase Medicine Vials to restore Ezio's health during combat or after taking damage. Always carry a full stock of medicine, especially before engaging in difficult missions or large skirmishes.
- Poison: Acquire poison darts for your Hidden Blade. Poison is excellent for silently eliminating targets or causing distractions.
Strategy Tip: Keep an eye on your medicine count. Running out in the middle of a fight can be fatal. Consider purchasing the Medicine Pouch upgrade from a Tailor to carry more vials.
Bomb Crafting Stations
While not a traditional "shop," Bomb Crafting Stations are crucial vendors for Ezio's bomb-making endeavors. These are found in Assassin Dens and at various locations marked with a bomb icon on the map.
- Bomb Components: Purchase ingredients like Shells, Gunpowder, and various Fillers (e.g., Caltrops, Shrapnel, Smoke Powder, Fuse Caps). You'll need these components to craft all types of bombs.
- Crafting: Use the station to combine components and create custom bombs. Experiment with different combinations to create bombs for various tactical situations:
- Lethal Bombs: Combine a high-impact shell with shrapnel or caltrops for direct damage.
- Tactical Bombs: Use smoke powder for distractions or cherry bombs for drawing enemy attention.
- Diversion Bombs: Create noise-making bombs to lure guards away from your path.
Strategy Tip: Always keep a healthy stock of bomb components. As you progress, you'll unlock more powerful components and bomb types. Mastering bomb crafting is key to tackling many of the game's challenges efficiently.
Bankers
Bankers, identified by a coin bag icon, are not vendors in the traditional sense, but they play a vital role in your economic strategy in Constantinople.
- Deposit/Withdraw: You can deposit excess florins into your bank account, which is safer than carrying large sums on your person, as you lose a portion of your money if you die.
- Income Collection: Your bank automatically collects income from renovated properties and businesses you own. Visit the bank regularly to collect your earnings, which accumulate over time.
Strategy Tip: Renovating properties and businesses is a significant source of passive income. The more properties you own and renovate, the faster your florins will accumulate in your bank account. Make it a habit to visit a Banker after completing a few missions to collect your accumulated wealth.
