Unlike previous Assassin's Creed titles, Rogue's Modern Day segments are integrated seamlessly into the Abstergo Entertainment office environment. You play as a nameless Abstergo employee, tasked with repairing the Animus after a critical system failure. These segments are crucial for understanding the overarching narrative and unlocking additional content.

Initial System Breach & Repair

Your first Modern Day appearance occurs shortly after the Animus is compromised. The objective is to restore functionality to the Animus and the Abstergo network.

Locate the Server Room: From your workstation, head left and follow the main corridor. The Server Room is clearly marked with a "Server Room" sign above the door.
Access the Server: Inside the Server Room, interact with the large central server rack. You'll be prompted to initiate a repair sequence.
Complete the Hacking Minigame: This minigame involves guiding a data stream through a network of nodes. You'll need to rotate the nodes to create a continuous path from the start point to the end point. There are usually 3-4 distinct paths to complete for each server. Failure to complete it within a certain time limit will result in a restart.
Return to Your Workstation: Once the server is repaired, head back to your desk to continue with the Animus simulation.

Abstergo Network Hacking & Collectibles

Throughout the game, you'll be pulled back into the Modern Day to perform additional repairs and, more importantly, to hack into various Abstergo employee computers. These hacks are vital for uncovering lore, emails, and audio logs that flesh out the Modern Day story and provide context for the historical events.

Hacking Terminals

After the initial server repair, you'll gain the ability to hack other employees' computers. Look for computers with a glowing blue screen and a prompt to interact. Each hack involves a similar minigame to the server repair, but with varying difficulty and node configurations.

Employee Desks: Many desks in the main office area contain hackable terminals. Explore thoroughly.
Conference Rooms: Check the tables in the conference rooms for laptops or desktop computers.
Executive Offices: Later in the game, you'll gain access to more restricted areas, including executive offices, which often hold valuable data.

Data Fragments & Collectibles

Successfully hacking a terminal will often yield one of the following:

Emails: These provide insight into Abstergo's operations, employee gossip, and the Templar agenda.
Audio Logs: Offering spoken narratives from Abstergo personnel, these logs often contain crucial plot details and character development.
Documents: Scanned documents, memos, and reports that expand on the lore of the Assassin-Templar conflict.
Abstergo Employee Profiles: Learn about the various individuals working at Abstergo Entertainment.

Strategy for Collectibles: Prioritize hacking every available terminal during each Modern Day interlude. Some areas become inaccessible later, so it's best to collect everything you can when you have the chance. Pay attention to the mini-map; hackable terminals will often appear as small, distinct icons.

Later Modern Day Sequences

As the story progresses, the Modern Day segments become more involved, sometimes requiring you to navigate the office under pressure or to access specific, highly secured areas. Always be observant of your surroundings and listen to the dialogue from your Abstergo colleagues for clues.

Security Breaches: Be prepared for moments where the Abstergo network is under attack, and you'll need to quickly perform multiple hacks to stabilize the system.
Restricted Areas: Access to certain areas, like Olivier Garneau's office or the executive floor, will be gated by story progression. These often contain critical lore and advanced hacking challenges.
Final Confrontation: The very last Modern Day sequence involves a significant plot reveal and a final, challenging hacking puzzle. Ensure you've collected as much information as possible from previous hacks to fully appreciate the narrative conclusion.

Remember, while the Modern Day segments might seem like a break from the high seas and historical assassinations, they are integral to the Assassin's Creed Rogue experience and offer a rich layer of lore and context.
