Prologue
Welcome, Assassin! The Prologue of Assassin's Creed Unity serves as your initial immersion into the Animus, setting the stage for the grand narrative ahead. This section will guide you through the very first steps, familiarizing you with basic controls and the historical context.
Memory: The Siege of the Temple
Your journey begins not as Arno Dorian, but as a Templar Knight during the Siege of the Temple in 1307. This sequence acts as a tutorial for fundamental movement and combat mechanics.
Objective 1: Reach the Grand Master
- Initial Movement: As the memory loads, you'll find yourself in a chaotic battle. Follow the on-screen prompts to learn basic movement (left stick to move) and camera control (right stick to look around).
- Navigating the Battlefield: Head straight through the burning debris. You'll encounter several skirmishes. While you can engage, your primary goal is to reach the Grand Master.
- Climbing Obstacles: Approach the collapsed archway ahead. Use the free-run up button (R2/RT + left stick up) to climb over it.
- First Combat Encounter: Shortly after the archway, you'll be confronted by a group of attacking soldiers.
- Attack: Press Square/X to initiate a light attack.
- Parry: Press Circle/B when an enemy's attack indicator flashes to parry and create an opening.
- Dodge: Press X/A + left stick to dodge incoming attacks.
- Continue Forward: After dispatching the enemies, proceed through the courtyard. You'll see more fighting; ignore it for now and focus on the path ahead.
Objective 2: Defend the Artifact
- Locate the Grand Master: Follow the objective marker. You'll find the Grand Master in a central chamber, attempting to secure a powerful artifact.
- Reinforce Defenses: As you approach, more enemy soldiers will breach the chamber. Your task is to defend the Grand Master and the artifact.
- Engage Multiple Enemies: This combat encounter will be more challenging, as you'll face several opponents simultaneously.
- Prioritize Threat: Focus on enemies with immediate attack indicators.
- use Environment: While limited in this area, be aware of your surroundings.
- Chain Attacks: After a successful parry, you can often chain attacks against multiple nearby enemies.
- Protect the Grand Master's Health: Keep an eye on the Grand Master's health bar. If it depletes, the memory will desynchronize.
- Final Stand: The combat will intensify as more waves of enemies arrive. Continue to fight until a cinematic cutscene triggers, concluding the Prologue.
Upon completion, you will transition out of this historical simulation and into the modern-day Animus interface, setting the stage for Arno's story in Sequence 01: Memories of Versailles.
