Walkthrough: Infiltration and Assassination

1. Approach the Cour des Miracles

The Cour des Miracles is located in the northern district of Paris, a notorious den of thieves and Templar activity. The main entrance is heavily guarded. We recommend a stealthier approach:

  • Southern Wall Entry: Head to the southern perimeter of the Cour des Miracles. Look for a series of low rooftops and scaffolding.
  • Guard Patrols: Two Brute-class guards patrol the ground near the southern wall. Use your Eagle Vision to mark them. Wait for them to separate or use a Phantom Blade on one if you have a clear shot and no other guards are nearby.
  • Climb Over: Once the immediate area is clear, scale the wall or use the scaffolding to climb over. Be mindful of snipers on higher rooftops overlooking the perimeter.
2. Navigating the Courtyard

Upon entering, you'll find a bustling, yet dangerous, environment. The Scribe is located in the central building, a fortified structure with multiple entry points.

  • Initial Reconnaissance: Immediately activate Eagle Vision to identify guards, the Scribe's location (marked with a red target icon), and potential alarm bells. There are at least three alarm bells in the main courtyard – disabling these is crucial to prevent reinforcements.
  • Rooftop Advantage: The rooftops offer the best vantage point. Climb to the highest points surrounding the central building. From here, you can pick off isolated guards with Phantom Blades or plan your descent.
  • Disabling Alarm Bells: Prioritize disabling the alarm bells. There's one near the main gate, one on the eastern side of the central building, and another on the western side. Approach them stealthily, using cover and air assassinations on any nearby guards.
3. Locating and Eliminating the Scribe

The Scribe is typically found on the second floor of the central building, often in a study or office. He is usually accompanied by 1-2 bodyguards.

  • Entry Point Options:
    • Front Door (Stealth): If you've cleared the ground floor guards and disabled alarms, you can attempt a stealthy entry through the main entrance. Be prepared for guards inside.
    • Side Window (Recommended): Look for an open window or a window that can be lockpicked on the second floor. This often provides a less guarded entry. Use Eagle Vision to scout the room before entering.
    • Rooftop Hatch: Some central buildings in this area have rooftop access via a hatch. This can be a very discreet way to drop directly into the Scribe's vicinity.
  • Assassination Strategy:
    • Silent Approach: Once inside, move slowly and use cover. The Scribe's bodyguards are usually Brutes or Seekers.
    • Distraction: If the Scribe is with bodyguards, consider throwing a Cherry Bomb or a Smoke Bomb to distract or disorient them, creating an opening for a quick assassination.
    • Hidden Blade Takedown: Aim for a direct Hidden Blade assassination on the Scribe. If you have the "Double Assassination" skill, you might be able to take out the Scribe and one bodyguard simultaneously if they are close enough.
    • Phantom Blade (Last Resort): If a direct approach is too risky, a well-aimed Phantom Blade to the Scribe's head can work, but be aware of noise and potential detection.
4. Escaping the Cour des Miracles

After the assassination, the area will likely go into high alert, especially if you were detected. Your goal is to leave the red zone.

  • Immediate Evasion: If detected, immediately deploy a Smoke Bomb to break line of sight and create distance.
  • Rooftop Escape: The quickest and safest escape route is usually via the rooftops. Climb onto the nearest building and use the interconnected rooftops to move away from the pursuit.
  • Blend In: Once you've put some distance between yourself and the guards, look for crowds or benches to blend in and lose your pursuers.
  • Exit Point: Head towards any of the perimeter exits. The southern wall where you entered is often a good option if you cleared it earlier. Avoid the main gate if it's still heavily guarded.
