Brutes & Heavy Guards
Brutes and heavy guards represent a sificant step up in combat difficulty, often serving as mini-bosses or elite defenders in key locations. These imposing figures are characterized by their superior armor, larger weapons, and more aggressive combat styles. In Assassin's Creed Syndicate, characters like the heavily armored dockworkers or the formidable enforcers found guarding the Tower of London exemplify this enemy type. They possess a higher health pool and their attacks deal considerably more damage, often capable of staggering or even one-shotting an unprepared Assassin. A common pitfall is attempting to engage them with the same tactics used against standard guards. Their armor often renders them immune to standard stealth assassinations from the front, requiring a different approach. For instance, the armored brutes in Assassin's Creed Origins, particularly those encountered in Roman forts, will require precise dodges and well-timed counter-attacks. Their attacks are often telegraphed but incredibly powerful, such as a charging slam or a wide, sweeping axe attack. Learning to dodge these devastating blows is paramount. A successful dodge at the last moment can create a small window of opportunity to land a few hits. Abilities like the Overpower Attack in Assassin's Creed Valhalla are particularly effective against these tougher foes, as they can break through heavy armor and stagger the enemy, allowing for follow-up attacks. Alternatively, utilizing ranged attacks from a safe distance, if available, can chip away at their health before closing the distance for a riskier melee engagement. Some brutes may also have specific weak points, such as exposed limbs or a vulnerable back, which can be exploited with precise strikes.
- Health: High.
- Armor: Sificant resistance to frontal attacks and standard assassinations.
- Attack Power: Very High. Capable of staggering or one-shotting players.
- Combat Style: Aggressive, powerful, telegraphed but devastating attacks.
When facing a brute, prioritize evasion and patience. Do not get greedy with your attacks; land one or two hits and then immediately prepare to dodge. If you are struggling to find openings, consider using environmental hazards if available, such as dropping chandeliers or iting oil barrels. In Assassin's Creed Odyssey, using the Warrior's Bow with special arrow types can also be effective in chipping away at their health from a distance before they can close in. Remember that their sheer presence can intimidate, but with careful observation and strategic use of your abilities, even the most imposing brute can be brought down.
