Al Mualim Phase 2 Strategy (Apple of Eden)
The second phase of the Al Mualim boss fight introduces the devastating power of the Apple of Eden, transforming the encounter into a surreal and challenging battle. Al Mualim's attacks become more unpredictable, and the environment itself can become a hazard.
In this phase, Al Mualim gains the ability to manipulate reality, creating illusions and unleashing energy-based attacks. His swordplay remains a threat, but it is now augmented by these new powers. He will often create multiple illusory copies of himself. It is crucial to identify the real Al Mualim. The real Al Mualim will have a slightly different animation or a subtle visual cue that distinguishes him from the illusions. Focusing your attacks on an illusion will result in them dissipating harmlessly and may even trigger a counter-attack from the real Al Mualim.
The Apple of Eden allows him to unleash waves of energy. These can manifest as sweeping beams or explosive bursts. When he charges up an energy attack, indicated by a bright glow and a distinct sound cue, you must react quickly. Sprinting away from the epicenter of the blast or finding solid cover is essential. Blocking these energy attacks is generally ineffective and will drain your stamina rapidly.
He also gains the ability to teleport short distances, making him harder to track. This means you need to be constantly aware of your surroundings and be ready to dodge his sudden reappearance and subsequent attack. His spectral assassins may also return in this phase, often appearing in conjunction with his energy attacks, adding another layer of complexity.
Your strategy should adapt to this chaos. Continue to prioritize identifying and attacking the real Al Mualim. When he is vulnerable after a major attack, use your most damaging combos. Abilities like Berserk Dart can be incredibly useful here, as they can sometimes cause his spectral assassins to attack each other, or even briefly turn them against the real Al Mualim, creating a sificant opening for you. If you have the Smoke Bomb ability, it can be used to disorient him and his illusions, allowing you to reposition or land a few free hits. Successfully navigating this phase requires extreme focus, quick reflexes, and a willingness to adapt to his ever-changing attack patterns.
