Talal Boss Strategy
Talal, the Templar encountered in the ruins of Jerusalem, presents a unique challenge due to his reliance on ranged attacks and his ability to utilize the environment for cover. Talal wields a powerful crossbow and will often retreat behind pillars and crumbling walls to regain his footing and fire volleys of bolts. His primary attack is a rapid-fire crossbow shot, which can be difficult to dodge consistently if you are caught in the open. The key to this fight is to close the distance quickly and maintain pressure, preventing him from setting up his ranged attacks.
The arena for this boss fight is a maze of stone structures. Talal will frequently use these for cover, making him a difficult target. When he is behind cover, he is invulnerable. You must force him out into the open. Using Throwing Knives can be effective in disrupting his aim or even forcing him to move. If you can land a Throwing Knife, he will often expose himself to retaliate. Once you are within melee range, Talal will attempt to create space by performing a quick sidestep and firing his crossbow. This is your opportunity to counter-attack. A successful Parry against his crossbow shot can stagger him, allowing for a few hits with the Hidden Blade. However, his melee attacks are less frequent but still pack a punch.
A critical aspect of this fight is managing your stamina and avoiding being cornered. Talal's crossbow bolts can chip away at your health rapidly if you are not careful. Utilizing the various pillars and structures for cover yourself is essential. When Talal is reloading or preparing a charged shot, this is your prime opportunity to advance. The Eagle Vision ability can be particularly useful in tracking Talal's movements through the ruins, even when he is behind cover. If you find yourself taking too much damage, breaking line of sight and using a Health Potion is recommended. Avoid engaging him in prolonged ranged duels, as his crossbow is superior in that regard. The goal is to get close, disrupt his ranged attacks, and deal damage in quick, decisive bursts. Successfully defeating Talal will grant you a sificant amount of Intel and progress your assassination questline.
