Main Campaign Overview

The main campaign of Baldur's Gate 3 involves a detailed progression through various acts, including main quests, side quests, and companion quests. While the number of quests might seem few in areas like the Wilderness in Act 1, each quest often has multiple objectives, requiring thorough exploration.

Act 2: Shadowlands and Companion Interactions

In Act 2, particularly in the Shadowlands, you will continue companion quests initiated in Act 1. Having Shadowheart in your party is highly recommended for story interactions, especially when visiting the Gauntlet of Shar. You will also find more interaction options with Astarion and Raphael. If preferred companions are not in your active party, a condensed version of their reactions can be found back at camp after completing relevant quests.

Act 3: Rivington and Beyond

After the interlude opening moments of Act 3, which involve fighting the Githyanki, entering the Astral Plain, and dealing with the Emperor, you will arrive in Rivington. This area offers traders, side quests, and main quest objectives.

Quest Overlaps and Rewards

Some quests share objectives, such as finding the Githyanki Creche, which is relevant to both the "Find a Cure" main quest and the "Discover the Artefact’s Secrets" personal quest.

  • The Pale Oak: Obtained by completing "Investigate Kagha" and persuading/sparing Kagha before "Rescue the Druid Halsin." This staff is awarded only if you are a druid.
  • Auntie Ethel's Offer: Consider her offer to eliminate the parasite at the Riverside Teahouse. This is mutually exclusive with Volo's Ersatz Eye and Wyll's stone eye options; only one questionable eye surgery can be undergone per character.
  • Amulet near Goblins: An amulet can be found in a chest near two Goblins. Taking it while they are alive is considered theft.
  • Quest Rewards:
    • The "Help Omeluum Investigate the Parasite" quest grants a reward.
    • The "Avenge Glut's Circle" quest reward is given by Glut upon defeating sovereign Spaw. This item can also be bought from Lady Esther at Rosymorn Monastery Trail or found on a counter near Sorcerous Sundries, guarded by a Lava Elemental and Water Elemental.
  • Lady Esther: A human trader on the Rosymorn Monastery Trail, employed by the Society of Brilliance. She seeks a Githyanki egg for an experiment. Completing the conversation/quest regarding the Githyanki egg will prevent further trading with her.
