Memnos tries to intervene but ultimately walks away when Arka refuses to listen, leaving the player to decide how to proceed.

Encounter with Memnos, Arka, and Sazza

Upon entering a specific area, you will find Sazza, a goblin, in a cage, with Arka aiming a crossbow at her. Arka believes Sazza is responsible for her brother Kanon's death. Memnos attempts to stop Arka, but she ignores him and he leaves. Sazza continues to provoke Arka.

Your choices in this situation:

  1. Shut up. Those words could be your last.
  2. Step between the crossbow and the goblin.
  3. Do nothing.

Choosing to Step between the crossbow and the goblin will gain Gale's approval. Arka will then ask you to move. Your subsequent choices:

  1. [INTIMIDATION] Lower the crossbow, or I'll deliver you right to your brother.
  2. [PERSUASION] No, shoot me. Should be easy, right?
  3. [PERSUASION] This won't avenge Kanon. It won't change anything.
  4. [DETECT THOUGHTS] Read the tiefling's thoughts.
  5. Step out of the way.

Selecting the third option, [PERSUASION] This won't avenge Kanon. It won't change anything., requires a Charisma skill check with DC 10. If successful, Arka will lower her crossbow, acknowledging your point but wishing it wasn't true. She will then ask why you care if a goblin lives or dies. Your final set of choices:

  1. Because she's not a practice target. She's a person.
  2. If she dies, she'll take everything she knows to the grave.
  3. A goblin prisoner. Her life isn't yours to take.
  4. Because vengeance eats people alive. You'll grant the goblins two victories this day.
  5. My reasons are my own.

Choosing the fourth option, Because vengeance eats people alive. You'll grant the goblins two victories this day., will earn Shadowheart's approval but Lae'zel's disapproval, with Lae'zel commenting on your soft heart.
